Thyroid Check test in morning

Hello! I am going to have the Medicheck thyroid test in the morning and I was just reading that ideally I would fast beforehand (which is fine). Unfortunately as I am going to my local hospital for the test (my nearest clinic), I won’t be able to get blood drawn until after 9am and as it’s a drop in clinic, it could well be 9:30 before I am seen. I have read about levels dropping throughout the morning - will this be a problem?

It's the TSH that drops throughout the day. So, if your doctor is one of those that only looks at the TSH, then it could be the difference between getting diagnosed and not getting diagnosed, getting an increase and not getting an increase - or even getting a decrease! It does matter if it's for the doctors eyes, not so much if it's for your eyes only.

I’ve already had TSH checked and GP said that was ‘normal’. This is TSH, FT4, FT3, antibodies, B12, folate, ferritin and inflammation marker.

They usually say that. What was the result?

TSH was 2.0 (range 0.2 - 6.0).

When a doctor says 'normal', he just means 'in-range'. 2 is in-range for TSH, but it's still too high for the majority of hypos. Most prefer it under 1.

I have not had any diagnosis of thyroid issues but am doing this test to hopefully rule thyroid problems out. GP has referred me to rheumatologist with possible fibromyalgia but a friend suggested checking thyroid just in case.

OK, I see. In that case, it will be interesting to see your Frees. You can still be hypo even with a low TSH, because you could have a pituitary/hypothalamus problem. But, your TSH is still higher than average. Most euthyroid people have a TSH of around 1.
