I have hypothyroidism and tpo of 62. Is this autoimmune hashimotos and will my ct scan with contrast cause further probles with my thyroid

hashimotos and ct contrast
What's the range on TPO test?
Usually it's 34. So if that's the range, yes result over 34 confirms autoimmune thyroid disease
Important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
I’d like to ask the same question please as I have to have ct with contrast because of enlarged blood vessels in one eye.
For 'dontbelieveit' and 'Stumpy57'
I discovered too late the problems Hashimoto patients have with contrast media.
These may help ----

Over the years I have I copied the following from numerous pdfs
It should be kept in mind that, although most adverse reactions occur soon after the administration of the contrast medium, some adverse reactions can be delayed and can be of long-lasting nature.
There are warnings re this injection if you have any type of active infection, drug allergies, especially if you have had any type of reaction to another contrast agent, Hashimoto’s disease, circulatory problems ---------.
Patients should be well hydrated prior to and following the administration of OPTIRAY. Drink extra fluids before and after you receive Ioversol. This medication can cause you to get dehydrated, which can lead to dangerous effects on your kidneys. Do not allow yourself to become dehydrated during the first few days after receiving Ioversol
Radiation doses from a CT scan are much higher than most conventional radiographic procedures.
There is now evidence, which suggests that a history of adverse reaction to contrast media, increases the risk for a subsequent contrast reaction fivefold and is the best predictor of a recurrent event
Patients with a history of previous reactions to a contrast medium or iodine, are 3 times more susceptible than other patients
Patients who are at higher risk include those with past reactions to contrast media (up to 44%);
Proper patient evaluation, procedure selection, and adequate prophylactic measures, can prevent some adverse reactions. Knowledge, training, preparation are crucial for appropriate and effective therapy in the event of an adverse reaction
At all times a fully equipped emergency cart, or equivalent supplies and equipment, and personnel competent in recognising and treating adverse reactions of all severity, or situations which may arise as a result of the procedure, should be immediately available. The speed in which Optiray is injected is related to adverse reactions. The treatment of an acute reaction to contrast media is no different from any other anaphylactic reaction.
Injection technique: Make sure the radiologist secures the connector to the arm by placing a strip of tape beneath the catheter and then bring it forward, crossing over the connector and onto the skin. Also secure any extension tubing to the arm with paper tape.
Extreme caution should be exercised in injecting patients with a previous reaction to a contrast medium of different chemical structure or a history of iodine sensitivity to the use of Ioversol.
Chemotoxic reactions result from the physiochemical properties of the contrast medium, the dose and the speed of injection. All hemodynamic disturbances and injuries to organs or vessels perfused by the contrast medium are included in this category. Idiosyncratic reactions include all other reaction.
With further research and development, new strategies may be employed to screen patients at risk of ADRs to improve the outcomes for ADRs in our patients.
“Lack of non-technical skills can have lethal consequences for patients. However, the NHS lags unacceptably behind other safety-clinical industries, such as aviation in this respect.”
Patients identified as being at increased risk of an adverse reaction to contrast medium should be brought to the attention of the radiologist. If contrast media is deemed essential the patient should be monitored in the radiology department for one hour and should receive LOCM
I gave just had a ct scan and had two or 3 last year as had major op. I have hashimotos. Am I at risk, I worried!!?
Hi, Im wondering whats the worst can happen to hashimotos...noone says. I know people with no thyroid problem can get itwithin 2 yrs and we are high risk for...? thats what i want toknow
