IBS, Hashimotos, & gluten free

Hi everyone, for a number of years I suffered with what seemed to be IBS, however the symptoms disappeared around the time I started with what In hind sight were Thyroid symptoms i.e. constipation (and more) - I was thinking, is it possible that the IBS symptoms disappeared because my bowels had slowed down so much they were hardly moving at all with my Hashi's??? Anyway to cut a long story short, I didn't know the constipation was thyroiditus until very recently but now I'm being treated (on levo) & my system is starting to move again hey presto back come my IBS symptoms! I've just started a gluten free diet too & this also seemed to co-inside with the return of my IBS, however I thought ruling out gluten would help, not hinder (also helping with antibodies). Does anyone know why this may have happened???

A study by Biesiekierski et al in 2014 found that 1 in 4 of people who have a self-diagnosed gluten sensitivity found no improvement in their symptoms when following a gluten-free diet. (Even 1 in 5 of those with coeliac disease can have persistent symptoms despite being gluten-free.) Have you thought about the low FODMAP (Fermentable Oligo-Di-Monosaccharides and Polyols) diet, which has been research- and clinically-proven to reduce symptoms in 75% of those with IBS. A recent study from Monash University found that 100% of participants with both gluten sensitivity and IBS found better symptom relief on a low FODMAP diet than on a gluten-free diet, and only 8% of participants had symptoms when gluten was added back into the diet (Biesiekierski et al, 2013).

Could I also ask for low acid, if people take Apple cider vinegar - how much are they taking & are they adding it to food or drinking it? I feel like my food is just laying in my stomach undigested a lot of the time.
