Hello there folks ok, so, i have Hashi`s, + i love beer. Not had any in years because of gluten. I`ve found some that says it`s gluten free, + contains less than 20ppm, but, after reading the ingredients, it says it`s got Barley malts in it . Is this actually safe for someone who`s gluten free please? thanks

Gluten Free Beer
The best people to answer your question may well be Coeliac UK. There's a lot of info on their site about GF products coeliac.org.uk/gluten-free-...
Hiya :), thanks for that, i`ll go take a look. The brew i`ve found sounds so yummy, gosh i hope i can have it, lol
If you're not actually coeliac and simply doing GF for thyroid reasons, I'm guessing it will be fine. At least worth a try by the sounds of it
I`m def wheat intolerent, it zonks me out, which was how i ended up gf in the first place, but i think i`m going to try it. See how i get on. I`ll just tell you what it says on the tasting notes " bitter orange overtones with hints of chocolate + coffee" now you see why i`m so desperate to have it lol
Oooh yes, that sounds absolutely delish! Keep us updated on this one
Comprehensive list of gluten free beers
M&S do some good ones
Gluten is a protein, & beer doesn’t have protein in, so unless you’re an extremely gliadin intolerant coeliac you could be ok.
If it’s traditionally made real ale, rather than mass produced wee wee, the yeast in the beer would breakdown the gluten in grains in the same way sourdough yeasts break down gluten & phytate to make it more nutritious.
If you’re gluten/phytate intolerant maybe chance a tasty beer now & again, & avoid it if you’re coeliac.
Beer isn't safe for coeliacs at all - even if a little dribble of someone's Tennant's or the finest real ale spills into your glass of cider, you'll get sick. Gluten free beers have to be consumed in moderation as well.
A lot of soft drinks also contain barley malt extract, which isn't safe for coeliacs either, so if you're ever catering for one, you would need to check the labels on your soft drinks too.
This is such a good question!
Hi there folks :D, sorry took so long to get back to you all. I couldn`t find any of this particular beer anywhere within reasonable driving distance, so i ordered a case direct from brewerey. Firstly, it`s pretty yummy, + secondly, i only had half a bottle, then had other half 3 days later, not had any alcohol for over 2 years so thought i`d better take it steady, lol. I haven`t noticed any problems. No physical side effects at all, apart from the obvious . I could tell i`d had just half a bottle, i would be such a cheap date, lol. Anyway, i hope that`s helpful to you, + thank you all for your help + suggestions
There are two categorisations of beer in my experience:
Gluten removed and Non-gluten containing.
Non gluten containing beers are brewed from alternative grains, like buckwheat, quinoa, rice etc, and are completely gluten free.
Gluten removed beers are made from Barley, but have an additive which breaks down the gluten chains to make it easier on the gut. The gluten is still in there, it just looks a bit different. Many coeliacs find they can only tolerate a couple of gluten removed beers, before they get sick the following day. My OH can't have any gluten removed beer, because he will get sick every time.
As you've not gotten sick from the half bottle, I would think you'll be ok to drink it, but I would make it a general rule to limit to no more than 2.
If you want some non gluten containing beers, Alt Brew and Greens make some. My OH really likes the Green's ones!
