Hi I just posted recently about not having stable tsh on nutri thyroid and wondered what other people are trying instead of NHS medication as I was on liothyronine until I became sensitive to the only brand they would prescribe me and also very ill on levo so I started to look into supplements and alternative meds

Would love to know people s success stories as feeling rather dreadful on tsh of 12.21 and T4 13 .6 I think so really looking for alternatives to try asap to get my levels optimal aiming for tsh under 1 ideally and T4 mid to high end anywhere between 17-23 really.

Thanks look forward to any replies

Hi there,

I'm sorry you're feeling so dreadful. I was very symptomatic for years too and it took me some time to understand what to do to start getting better. I will not elaborate on my misery dealing with GPs, endos, etc (writing letters, complaints, endless appointments and tests, trying medication, being lied to by professionals, etc). A lot of us have been there unfortunately. I lost 7 years of my life.

This is what helped me get noticeably better:

- a different minset: I had enough and did not want to waste more years. I decided to be in charge of my health (I now monitor my symptoms/supplements/results daily and write updates/results/chart on a big monthly planner, organise my own tests, research my condition) and do not rely on doctors exclusively (and I do not waste time and energy fighting them and their thyroid treatment protocol anymore)

- after trying synthetic T4 - alone and then combined with T3 (under medical supervision) with limited success, I tried NDT (on my own) and felt better very quickly but it works better if I follow what's below.

- I have thyroid antibodies and having an autoimmune disease is NOT the same as being hypothyroid = I needed to address the inflammation separately from the hormone replacement.

- finding the root cause of my autoimmune illness (it took me a while!)

- for the inflammation, the following worked fast: diet (autoimmune protocol diet with no gluten, soya, etc, organic whole food only, specific food to repair my gut), lifestyle (easy cardio 3 x 30 min/week, sleep, no smoking, limited stress, etc)

- "supplements" : food or herbs that were/are super helpful (Rosita CLO, organic virgin coconut oil, non-gmo brewer's yeast, grass-fed beef collagen, etc)

- synthetic or non-food supplements when necessary (magnesium oil spray, glutathione, probiotics, etc)

- two big lessons in this department: not all supplements are created equal and probiotics can have negative effects depending on the strains they contain vs your own gut (therefore reinforcing the fact that we are all unique and have unique gut microbiome).

I saw amazing, life-changing, results with NDT + diet & lifestyle in less than three months in terms of symptoms but on blood tests too. There is light at the end of the tunnel I promise!

Thanks so much for your reply and info it's filled me with hope, iav been exact same situation trying to fight and now deciding just to send this one complaint to CCG to notify them of my treatment and try forget about the whole thing as the stress has deteriorated me worse aswell, I am ready to take my health into my owns and try other alternative meds and not relie on nhs medication if I can try the right brand of T3 again I would but iad like to try NDT or another supplement so I have control of my health and don't have to rely on anyone else to supply me meds I too have raised antibodies, though i am not sure how to figure out what the trigger is how did you? I think nightshades sugar and the obvious dairy gluten and soy and any grains and nuts are also triggers for me but I then struggle to figure out what to eat and keep weight on as iam really skinny so gets be stressed eating aip diet but I thought if I tried to heal my gut maybe iad start to absorb nutrients again how did you heal your gut successfully did you just try probiotics I was thinking I trying slippery elm aswell ? I have had bad reactions to probiotics think due to histamine issues in the past so I know what you mean trying to find the right one.

Does everyone buy NDT from different sources is it easy to obtain ?

I was only on Levo for 8 months after my Thyroid was removed and quickly became ill.

I was lucky enough to be very fit before and my thyorid was working well, so no medication.

After only 8 months I knew that I wasn't right and could hardy stand up. I then joined this site and now three years later feel well and I am nearly 73 years old. I do Yoga most days, walk the dogs and feel great.

I took the good advice on this site, first I took a private blood test Medichecks ThyroidUltaVit this will help with obtained the answers. Take the test first thing and fasting Leave of Levo for 24 hours prior or NDT /T3 for 10 hours prior. Post the results with the ranges on here for answers.

I did exactly this and then started myself on Thyroid s which is NDT from Thailand.

It did take time and effort to get the dosage right, but I have now cracked it.

I haven't visited the GP for well over two years now I look after my own body with the help

that I have received on this site. You can feel well again too.
