How to calculate precise daily dosages?

A few days ago I'm sure that I read a contribution from someone who had produced a table to calculate precise average daily doses from many different tablet sizes (T3 or T4). I should have saved the link when I read it, and now I can't find it :-( . Can anyone help?

I've never understood the logic of the weekly averaging approach - the body doesn't work on a weekly cycle, so why average over a week and not over two or three weeks or a month, or indeed any other period. And if, as some people say, they need a very specific dose to feel well, aren't they the very people that would need that exact dose on a daily basis (since endogenous thyroid hormone production is cyclical over a 24 hour period) and not different doses averaged out over an arbitary period such as a week?

I take your point completely, but it still feels like a good way to get those people slightly closer to their optimal dose. That said, I'm still a complete amateur in these things.

Whilst I agree that the ideal would be to receive the exact dose every day, what I was trying to do was show the possibility of making dose changes of less than 25 micrograms per day. (Or worse, 50 micrograms a day in countries where even 25 microgram doses are unobtainable.) We see, pretty much day after day, people who have only ever had their dose adjusted by available tablet dosages without any further thought than that.

Use of a week as a unit of time is simply because it is relatively straightforward. Certainly the principles could be extended to any period desired.

Thanks Helvella, It’s really helpful for people like me who are trying to find tune a dose. I know 100mcg a day is too hot for me. 75mcg a day is too cold! I have to slowly edge up to the optimum and I don’t want to be cutting tiny tablets into quarters or eighths - that’s impossible. If my optimum is, for example, 88mcg a day, I only achieve that by averaging out and - as you say - over a week is a handy way of doing just that. 🤸🏿‍♀️🥛

Yes I agree, I’ve been there - however with hindsight that was the beginning of my difficulties with Levo and eventually I had to have T3

While I agree with you helvella that even doses are the preferred way to dose . Personally I dose with the fifty mcg increment to avoid any dyes since I don't do well with the dyes and for some one like me who needs a specific dose this schedule works perfectly . Thank You .
