Why do I have a huge heavy bloated stomach? But if I take T3 it goes?

If i stop or reduce my T 3 medication I go back to having a huge heavy bloated stomach, it feels like it is full of concrete..its actually uncomfortable to move. And it actually swells up more after I have been to the toilet - why is that?

So T3 sorts this problem out for me, but sadly it makes me anxious, increase heart beat and feelings that i might collapse. So have had to reduce the dose....but then the bloated stomach comes back!

Any ideas what's happening to me, what's causing me to have the huge heavy bloated stomach ( especially after going to the toilet) and how to solutionise it please.

I am most days gluten free.

My medication is T4 50mg T3 12mg this stops the bloating, but makes me anxious etc

or if i take T4 25mg T3 6mg this stops me being anxious but the bloating comes back.

Hi Jodie - yes yes yes exactly the same.... I am so hoping someone will reply with an answer to our predicament as it’s torturous, today was extra bad on the hard heavy bloating tummy, I really did not do much as felt so uncomfortable, and then get depressed as I haven’t done all the things I needed to do.

Please someone out there help us!

Hi, it could be worth trying some digestive enzymes with your food. I think that kind of bloating and hard, painful stomach could mean you're not digesting properly.

Magnesium helped me a lot but also, if you are going gluten free, it has to be all or nothing. Being mostly gluten free won't help x

Hiya I'm unable to tolerate t4 and unfortunately can't be prescribed t3 . I went from a size 12 to a size 14/16 within weeks of taking t4 I have pics on my profile to show (although they are the wrong way around) . Could be a reaction to fillers in meds so gps should check branding first . Do a bit of research on brands 1st.

Next address your own nutrition and toxicity levels .

I find a water filter helps to detox the blood and can help calm bloating along with bone broth and added supliments. Have you had your vitamin and folate levels checked at all ?

Gluten free is a great start but may need improving on . Excess salts in meds and yoir diet will cause water retention unfortunately..hope this helps..

Tam x
