Who does private finger prick bloods for children please?

Hi, I’d like to test my 13 year old son for Hashimoto’s as I have it and think he may too. Medichecks won’t allow any test for under 18s. Does anyone know somewhere that will please?

Yes Blue Horizon does. I asked them only two days ago, and they told me that they leave it to the parents to make the decision if it is appropriate for their child to do a home blood test.

You can pay extra for private blood draw at local to you clinic or have nurse come to your house

Make sure to include testing vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin

Thank you. We think he will be fine with the finger prick test but if it doesn’t work we will get the nurse in. Will ensure he has those vitamin levels checked too.

His arms hands should be warm so blood draw is easier.

Some blood tests have age-specific reference ranges for children that differ from the reference intervals for adults. The accompanying reports might give inappropriate advice if the age is misrepresented, especially by 5 years.

You should get an anti-thyroglobulin antibody test as well as thyroid hormone levels but I assume you already know this. If it's Hashimoto's you should consider looking at gut health. Auto-immune conditions are thought to start in the gut. Poor lad hope you get to the bottom of his problems soon.

Has anyone from the US ever ordered those tests? I literally have to leave NY state if I want to have my own blood drawn, it’s ridiculous.
