Hi all, shortly after the birth of my son 6 months ago I suddenly became very sick. My body shook all day, tingling extremities, dizziness, extremely fast heart rate. In January I was told I was hyper with a TSH of 0.05, no other info was given. My heart rate seemed to slow some, tingling and dizziness is still there. Saw the endocrinologist 2 days ago finally! But now i'm hypo. TSH 9.69 and Free T4 is 0.78. TPO antibodies is 403 and Thyroglobulin AB is 1. I don't know what any of this means. He called in a prescription for Levothyroxine 75mcg which I just started today. Here is the kicker, my heart is beating fast again. 110 bpm just sitting here. Is this possible with hypo? I'm terrified that the medication will only raise it more.
Thanks for any insight.

hi. Thyroid aside I am wondering if you had nitrous oxide during the labour as this can wipe out your B12 and not show up on blood tests. Your tingling hands, dizziness, shaking is ringing B12 bells with me and these issues often run alongside thyroid problems. Do you have a full copy of your latest bloods you should have had taken B12, Vitamin D, folate and ferritin as well as TSh, T4 and T3. We could do with seeing the ranges for your antibodies as well. Please also take your temperature and pulse for a few days first thing in the morning. Starting your on 75mcg is quite a large starting dose. I would suggest talking to your doctor about reducing to 50 and I would omit taking it until you do. It can take a little while to get better from thyroid issues, to get to the bottom of things and there are alsorts of factors that influence thyroid health. Lots of people here with a lot of experience and knowledge so keep coming back until you are better.
Thank you all so so much for your replies! I have been taking a vitamin b complex for months now along with a prenatal vitamin with added DHA in hopes that it would help. He didn't test anything other than TSH, Free T4, and Antibodies. As far as I know there is no family history of it up close. My second cousin on my mom's side did tell me that she is on Levo for underactive thyroid they just found a few weeks ago though. Getting a doctor to test for things here is almost impossible. I had to suffer through the hyper phase with no medication. My heart beat so fast I basically sat on my couch for two months waiting on the endocrinologist appointment.
I had a c section, I dont think I had nitrous oxide but I was pumped full of all kinds of drugs during the surgery with high doses of ibuprofen as pain relief the next few weeks.
Ranges for my results are:
Thyroperoxidase Range >9 Result 403
TSH Range .270-4.2 Result 9.690
Free T4 Range .90-1.70 Result .78
Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate Range 0-30 Result 1
Where are you? I expect you did have nitrous oxide I think it is routinely used in surgery.
Hi I bought TPO from over 1000 down to 117 by cutting out gluten and using natural remedies - B,E, C,D Magnesium, Selenium, sealing the gut.... seemed to do the job not on levo yet - subclinical
