Any advice on inflammation?

Hi everyone, I just wondered if anyone has discovered a magic cure (I know!) for inflammation? I get terrible stomach and gut problems, which then kick off an inflammation response in the rest of my body, which results in sinusitis symptoms, a sore throat, aching limbs, fatigue and anxiety. This has got increasingly worse over the past eight months. I'm 44 and wonder if it could be related to peri-menopause, although my latest hormone blood tests came back as normal.

I take a lot of supplements, including Tumeric, but I'm hoping I'm missing something that could make all the difference?! I was diagnosed with an interactive thyroid in my early 20s and Ive got Hashimoto's. I've posted my latest thyroid results below. I've read there's a link between inflammation and low T3 so I don't know if my medication needs tweaking. I am currently on 125mg Levothyroxine and 6.25mg of Tiromel per day, which I source privately.

Many thanks in advance for any help.

nature.com/articles/ejcn20147 this study shows that magnesium can reduce CRP which is a general marker of inflammation. My CRP has reduced significantly since I started supplementing with Better You Magnesium.

Thanks so much for your reply. Do you use the spray or are there tablets?

I use the gel, which is less 'tingly' than the spray :)

My CRP and thyroid antibodies came right down when I went totally gluten free. Could be a coincidence, I don’t think it’s fluctuations though because they have all come down steadily and haven’t gone up significantly. Yu could try that too.

I found lovely magnesium - Voost, you put it in a glass of water and it makes a very nice fizzy drink. I also like the Better You magnesium cream and gel, prefer them to the spray and I love a nice warm bath with s9me Better You magnesium flakes.

Brilliant, thanks so much. Magnesium does seems to be flagged up as something that's really help. I do take some but I may need to change brand/up my dose.

My CRP has reduced to near zero and pain has all but disappeared since cutting out sugar (scientifically proven to create inflammation) and since adopting an anti inflammatory diet recommended by the arthritis foundation - see following links - I cannot recommend this highly enough.

Thanks so much for the link. I don't drink or smoke but sugar is a downfall of mine, especially when I'm tired, so it sounds like it's the next thing I need to tackle!

Use golden paste, not a "turmeric" supplement as it contains all the active ingredients, not just curcumin, and you can add it to more foods in quantities that suit you. Make sure you are getting enough vit D, with K2 and magnesium (its cofactors). I'd need an increase in thyroid hormone with those levels (esp T3); you might not. Meditation is very helpful (Twenty Minutes, TM or Vedic are the easiest to do), Gluten free diet. You might also need dairy free.

Thanks a lot for your reply. My diet is something I definitely need to address further. I go through phases of being really strict with gluten and dairy, and then I get tired or run down and eat sugar to perk myself up which I know makes things so much worse!

Ditch sugar, seriously. Stop eating high glycemic foods & inflammation will greatly improve.

As for turmeric, are you taking it with black pepper? this combo greatly improves the efficacy of turmeric.

Thanks a lot for tour reply. I hadn't been taking it with black pepper but I'll look into other supplements that contain it. Sugar is next on my hit-list of things to deal with!
