All the first ones in the list are within range, nothing flagged up so there doesn't appear to be a problem there that I can see.

Calcium is slightly low. Supplementing with Vit D may raise that as taking D3 aids absorption of calcium from food. You say in your other thread that your Vit D level is 48, I assume the unit of measurement is nmol/L which is what we normally see in the UK. So let's address your Vit D.

The Vit D Council recommends a level of 125nmol/l [50ng/ml] and the Vit D Society recommends a level between 100-150nmol/L [40-60ng/ml]. For your current level of 48nmol/L [19.2ng/ml] they suggest taking 4,900iu D3 daily (nearest equivalent is 5,000iu)

vitamindcouncil.org/i-teste...

So your current 1000iu tablet isn't going to help much. I know you tried the oral spray, which is recommended for best absorption when there is Hashi's present, but as that made you feel sick then I would try the softgels and see if they work.

I did mention I got mine from here dolphinfitness.co.uk/en/doc... but do compare prices and take into account any postage and packaging costs.

There are important cofactors needed when taking D3 as recommended by the Vit D Council -

vitamindcouncil.org/about-v...

D3 aids absorption of calcium from food and K2-MK7 directs the calcium to bones and teeth where it is needed and away from arteries and soft tissues where it can be deposited and cause problems such as hardening of the arteries, kidney stones, etc.

D3 and K2 are fat soluble so should be taken with the fattiest meal of the day, D3 four hours away from thyroid meds if taking tablets/capsules/softgels, no necessity if using an oral spray

Magnesium helps D3 to work. We need Magnesium so that the body utilises D3, it's required to convert Vit D into it's active form. So it's important we ensure we take magnesium when supplementing with D3.

Magnesium comes in different forms, check to see which would suit you best and as it's calming it's best taken in the evening, four hours away from thyroid meds if taking tablets/capsules, no necessity if using topical forms of magnesium.

Check out the other cofactors too (some of which can be obtained from food).

If you need a recommendation for K2-MK7 then I've used both of these

Healthy Origins softgels (again only 2 ingredients) ebay.co.uk/p/Healthy-Origin... (bigger packs available, but this is not a cheap supplement)

K2-MK7 liquid amazon.co.uk/Vitamin-K2-Liq... This is what I currently use and prefer, completely oil based, natural, organic, and only 3 drops gives 100mcg K2 which is enough for up to 10,000iu D3.

Ferritin is rather low at 48ug/L. For thyroid hormone to work (that's our own as well as replacement hormone) it's said that ferritin needs to be at least 70, preferably half way through range. You can help raise your level by eating liver regularly, maximum 200g per week due to it's high Vit A content, also liver pate, black pudding, and including lots of iron rich foods in your diet

Obviously you have a high TSH and low FT4 and hopefully you can build up your NDT to address this.

You know you have Hashi's, have you tried a gluten free diet to see if it helps lower antibodies? Supplementing with selenium l-selenomethionine 200mcg daily can also help reduce the antibodies, as can keeping TSH suppressed (but you have a long way to go there :) )

Your creatinine level is below range, I don't know anything about this so perhaps your GP can discuss it with you.

Also discuss the high B6. Serum B12 seems to be fine.

It may be that you are taking b-complex with pyridoxine form of b6. This is known to build up in the serum if it is not being used up to metabolize Magnesium and Zinc and break down homocysteine with b12 and folate. (This can be due to a genetic problem as well with breaking down pyridoxine.) Too much may cause peripheral nerve damage. The 'better' form is p5p as it is easier to excrete. I don't get on with the less absorbable one myself, so made the switch a while back.

I've just edited my comment with a link to back up my point about b6 toxicity being something some of us can get due to a (fairly common) faulty gene issue which also does seem to occur quite a lot in Hashi's, based on my experience.

The blood levels look high, but the cellular levels are quite probably low. This would possibly indicate that you may also find that you get low b12 symptoms if you take cyanocobalamin and low folate symptoms on folic acid (the cheaper versions of these vitamins that require several conversions to work). Many on this forum use methylated b-complex (like Thorne and Igennus) which get around these problems of being unable to metabolise the cheaper b-supplements that build up in the bloodstream and do nothing for you.

Read this link if you're unconvinced :-)

Thank you that all makes sense to me I couldn’t understand why my b6 was so high but do now. I don’t take any B supplement but was drinking a energy drink (3 a day) which boasts its loaded with B vitamins, so that’s what did it I recon. Really appreciate your reply thank you

Great.. glad to help. Apparently taking p-5-p can actually flush out the 'wrong sort' of b6 according to the link. I never had my levels of b6 tested, but got weird symptoms on pyridoxine b6 like numbness in my hands.

in reply to HLAB35

Just remembered the drink I used to have was called Purdy's. I don’t know what p-5-p is but I will do some research if I can as I’m so fetqued and drained at the moment on my NDT. Thanks again
