Hyperthyrodism - can Calcium supplements and anti-depressants be part of the cause?
I am currently on Carbimozole and Levothyroxine and whilst the dose of LT has reduced I still have temours, sensitive to heat and very tired.
I read something about Calcium and anti-depressants afffecting how the medication works. The calcium supplements were prescribed 5 years ago. and i am now wondering if these could have caused it.

It probably isn't what is causing the hyperthyroidism exactly. I'm guessing that you have very low Magnesium levels which are indicated in hyperthyroidism; hypothyroidism when taking thyroid hormone replacement; depression and anxiety especially when on SSRIs (which utilise the body's Magnesium from the cells); anyone supplementing Calcium or consuming a lot of dairy; anyone supplementing vitamin D... the list goes on.. I'm really not a fan of excess dairy or of calcium supplements as our body requires Calcium to Magnesium at a 2:1 ratio... dairy has a 10:1 ratio and Calcium supplements without Magnesium are just plain wrong!
It is adcal and I was prescribed whilst in hospital. I was already on antidepressants! Surely the Doctors would know - it was the endocrinologist consultant that pres robed them!
