I've had a couple of changes to my meds in the last six months or so. I had an effective increase my my T3 about then (by increasing my NDT and decreasing the T4) and then another increase in the NDT a month and a bit ago. Overall, I feel significantly better than I did six months ago!
I've noticed my fingernails seem to be getting stronger. I assume it's the change six months ago, because I don't think that there has been long enough for the nails to have grown far enough for any change to be noticeable. (They're still fairly short because I cook/clean/garden/lift boxes etc, but they don't seem as flimsy as before.)
So... is nail strength related to bone health? If my nails seem stronger, does that mean anything for my bones?
I've tried looking it up. I've found some "informal" stuff on bone health websites - that flimsy nails might be a clue toward poor bones - but nothing on Google Scholar. It may be that I don't have the correct terms for my search.
Thanks. You're right the scholarly stuff is "better" but that news article talked about the same thing as one of the other two and explained it better for my non-medical understanding.
My nails aren't "model" nails, but given that I use my hands a lot I think they're not bad. And I feel that they're better than they were.
