Your doctor is right to raise your dose. Your TSH should be 2 or below to avoid risk of miscarriage. A higher dose of Levothyroxine should make your TSH lower. Make sure you have another test soon to see if you need an ebven higher dose of Levothyroxine. You will probably be able to go back to your pre-pregnancy dose of Levothyroxine once the baby is born, but you will probably need to stay on the higher dose until then.

Good luck with the pregnancy.

Please give me proper advise

Your doctor has given you proper advice. He has raised your dose of Levo which should hopefully bring your TSH down to the level acceptable for pregnancy. Listen to your doctor, he seems to know that you need a lower TSH during pregnancy and is doing the right thing.

My Wife was only put on Levothyroxine during pregnancy with her first child. GP put her on 25mcg and didn’t even monitor her from there. Her waters broke 6 1/2 weeks early, she was given the delay birth injection and a week later our Son was born 5 1/2 weeks early. No obvious complications from being so premature (spent 1x night in special care baby unit to monitor lung function but gave him back when he screamed the place down!). That was in 2009/10. He does now have a diagnosis of ketotic hypoglycaemia and suspected ADHD (not yet diagnosed) - who knows whether those are related to the troubled pregnancy and him being premature. On one of the early pregnancy scans they were worried about one of the measurements being slightly out (Spina Bifida, Edwards & Downs Syndromes can be indicated) - we then had to have a more thorough scan where they then decided everything was OK.

Post pregnancy, the doctor took her off Levothyroxine and told her she was fine. Obviously back then I didn’t have a clue about Hypothyroidism (several years before my own Hashis diagnosis) so we took the docs word at face value. Her TSH’s for several years before and after pregnancy have fallen somewhere between 6 and 9, so it has been obvious to me she has been symptomatic but struggling to get diagnosed like so many of us.

We then had our second child in 2013 - our daughter - she went full term to the day. She is 100% healthy (touches wood). I suspect the difference is during that pregnancy my Wife was not started on Levothyroxine at all - from what I now know, I highly suspected her getting left on that 25mcg starter dose during her 1st pregnancy caused the complications through causing her body to stop producing at least some of her own Thyroid hormones but it wasn’t enough to be a replacement dose. But what can we prove?

Over the past couple of weeks she has been back to the GP for bloods ahead of getting referred to Dr Toft to finally get a diagnosis privately (as I did) after becoming more and more symptomatic over the years to the point now where she is off work with nerve issues in her shoulder meaning she is in pain and can’t hold things in the hand on that side much of the time. I suspect all related given she is always tired, always falling asleep and weight gain has been a constant over the years without her really having much of an appetite. Very annoying what many have to go through because of the magical TSH=10+ the GP’s stick to for diagnosis.
