Hi all, I hope you’re doing alright. I got my most recent labs back today for thyroid and will post them. It seems that 90mg Armour (previously 75 mg) did the job although I had a couple episodes (overly emotional, anger, anxiety, delusion, paranoia) again these past two days (Sunday and Monday) and I got my Thyroid labs on Friday. So I am unsure if some of my symptoms are related to my levels going way down. I still feel out of breath, and tired. But its not as bad as this past December. I still have trouble sleeping and wake up in the morning exhaused. So I am wondering if Armour is a good choice for me since my t3 doesnt raise easily and my levels, looking back have been up and down.
Previous thyroid labs were completed and picked up on 12/28/18:
Tsh: 8.350 H range: 0.400-4.410 uIU/ mL
Ft3: 1.5 L range: 2.2- 4.2 pg/mL
Ft4: 0.68 L range: 0.80-1.90 ng/ dL
Just for reference.

Sorry you didn't get any replies, this is extremely busy forum
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. Do not take Levothyroxine dose in the 24 hours prior to test, delay and take immediately after blood draw. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)
If/when also on T3, or NDT make sure to take last dose 8-12 hours prior to test
Is this how you do your tests?
How do you feel in this dose?
What are vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 levels like?
As you had Graves and you now on strictly gluten free diet?
In answer to your question, I did get these tests done first thing in the morning and did not take my medication until afterwards. I always take it in the morning but did not this time due to tests.
Vitamin D, last test was low due to stopping for atleast a month And a half because I wanted to retest. Also Ferritin was low, and vB12 was 300 something low within range (also stopped because ai wanted to retest. I did not get a folate test this time because I forgot. But in the past folate hasnt been low.
I have been on gluten-free in the past but havent been as strict lately but will get back on. I can post specific test results for the vd and b12/ferritin if you would like, I just am not able at the moment.
This thyroid test was done 6 weeks after the other one I recently posted. I believe my thyroid has completely burned out as of now.
B vitamins best taken in the morning after breakfast
Recommended brands on here are Igennus Super B complex. (Often only need one tablet per day, not two). Or Jarrow B-right
If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 3-5 days before any blood tests, as biotin can falsely affect test results
Thank you will do. I had stopped the vd and b12 for about a month and a half I believe to test and see if there much difference but both went low again. Primary doesnt know (bit has seen the anemia in the past). I ordered these myself as My primary is not good about getting back to me so ai am looking for a new doctor. I do eat meat quite a bit, as well as veggies, but it doesnt seem to be enough so I will add a iron supplement. i will also checkout Seaside Susie’s replies and I do not take a biotin supplement.
Your low Ferritin will be causing problems. As it's below range, did you have a full blood count to see if you have iron deficiency anaemia?
Your iron panel may not be accurate. Although a Ferritin test doesn't require fasting, for iron, TIBC, or transferrin tests we should not eat or drink anything for 8 hours beforehand, in fact our NHS information advises a 12 hour fast.
The Vit D Council recommends a level of 50ng/ml and the Vit D Society recommends 40-60 ng/ml. You don't stop taking Vit D when checking levels, you continue taking it but on the day of the test take it after the blood draw. The result will tell you if you are supplementing at the right level or whether you need to increase or decrease your dose.
B12 is low, according to Sally Pacholock's book "Could it be B12" neurological problems can present with levels below 550pg/ml and a level around 1000 is recommended.
If you want a baseline for B12 you need to stop supplementing for 4-5 months. If you continue supplementing then like Vit D the result tells you if your dose is right or needs adjusting.
You need Folate testing as this works with B12.
I imagine all your low nutrient levels are causing problems and thyroid hormone won't be able to work properly.
I didnt know about these things, as far as vD and Iron goes etc. I usually get them done forst thing in the morning but this was the case for the set of labs I posted in comments. I did not get a cbc this time. I will make sure to read what you and SlowDragon have shared.
