Hi, I wish you all well. Has anyone been diagnosed with Hypothyroidism and Crohn's disease.
Hypothyroidism and Crohn's disease: Hi, I wish... - Thyroid UK
Hypothyroidism and Crohn's disease
Yes.....several on here including
Marz
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also extremely important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if Thyroid antibodies are raised
Obviously Crohns can badly affect vitamins too
What supplements do you currently take?
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. Do not take Levothyroxine dose in the 24 hours prior to test, delay and take immediately after blood draw. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)
Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies or all vitamins

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random
I have, as well as others & it sucks!!

Yes I was diagnosed when I was 27 - now 72 ! We have chatted before on another Forum when I asked about your VitD. You did not respond ... am guessing it is low - often is with Crohns. It is anti-inflammatory - so helpful. Diagnosed with hashi's back in 2005 ...
Hi Marz, so sorry i've just seen this[ BRAIN FOG] My VitD rang is -
Serum total 25 - hydroxy vitimin D level { Xabo0 = 50 . 6 nmol/L
😣
Hi - are you supplementing ? Your level needs to be around 100+ ....
Hi - taking Vit D , 4,000 u daily , as you suggested, just received my bloods from yesterday,
Vit B12 = 411 ng/L [ 211.0 - 911 . 0}
Folate = 11 . 5 ug / L [ 3 . 0 - 14 . 4 }
Having more bloods done next Monday,, not getting very far with GP, its such a struggle trying to get any bloods done by him.I am now looking at what other supplements that I can take via Seaside susie and Slow Dragon, sorry if Im a bit confused at times but , its BRAIN fog !!!!!
Take care
Are you supplementing B12 & Folate ?
As yet no, as I was told by Endo I don't need to😕. I m very confused with being told different things. GP saying I'm already taking Vit D and its enough.
You need to take Magnesium and VitK2-MK7 when supplementing VitD as suggested by Seaside Susie ..
I would take a GOOD B Complex to keep all the B vitamins in balance. Re-test VitD at end of winter. Was Ferritin tested ? Personally I would follow advice given here about supplements.
Check out Vit D and Crohn’s.
Yes my niece she has both, and has had her thyroid removed.
