hi everyone, i just would like to ask suggestions on what should i do about my high TSH level. i have 9.11 and my ft4 is normal..i am applying for a job abroad and i need my medical clearance. but unfortunately, i was advised to do a thyroid surgery. so then i followed and have had the surgery. but after the surgery, the medical clinic did not give me medical clearance because of high TSH level. isnt it because part of jy thyroid is removed, that i have high TSH levels? any suggestion on what to do, and what to tell them in order to have that clearance..and any suggestion on a diet in order to lower my tsh level...Thanks and Good day!

You need to provide the actual FT4 result and reference range, for folks to comment usefully as 'normal. doesn't mean anything.

my FT4 result is 11.24pM/L (the nirmal range is 11.50-23.00pM/L

If your TSH is that high, you either have suboptimal FT4 or FT3 or both of them. It means you're hypo. And, the only way to bring it down is to take thyroid hormone replacement. There's no diet that is going to have any effect on it. What does your doctor say about this high TSH?

No, thyroid hormone replacement is a pill. The pill will contain the thyroid hormone T4 (thyroxine).

It would be a good idea to have a read on the Thyroid UK website, which will explain all about it:

If you have any questions, come back to us. :)

It's perfectly normal for your doctor to want to retest after a few weeks, to make sure that your high TSH wasn't just a fluke.
