What riddles me is that all of my results are rather high.
Ive been battling insomnia, hyper-like talking, red fAce, heat sensitivity, fast heart rate, dry eyes and hair, dry genetals (man), and so on.
For 3 years doctors refused to check my thyroid because they Said my symptoms are due to stress/Anxiety, but after several months of anti depressants, ssri, beta blockers most of my symptoms were still there, so they agreed on checking my thyroid
Doctor told me my results were abnormal, im to go back again in 3 weeks from today, and If results are similar she Was gona send me to a thyroid specialist.
Whats your guys take on this, does my symptoms match my bloodwork, and what Do you think about the results below.
The last thing doctors seem to think of is the thyroid gland but they are very smart at prescribing for 'symptoms' but not getting to the root of the problem.
When you go back in three weeks, ask her to test your antibodies. You do not have hypERthyroidism with a TSH of 3.81! That is hypO. But, your FT3 is over-range. You could have Hashi's. Your symptoms could be hyper or hypo.
Hi pKal, sorry to hear of your struggles. Yes, those definitely sound like hyperthyroid symptoms. The over range T3 is the laboratory proof. The T3 drives the metabolism and heart rate is an indicator of your T3 that you can measure yourself. It's unfortunate that after three years you have to go back and have the tests done again to "confirm."
Insomnia due to high T3 is awful. People with low T3 also suffer insomnia but it's of a different texture, without the restless feeling of high T3. I learned this when experimenting with treatment for hypothyroidism by taking too much T3. I feel for you, pKal.
If you've had the same symptoms for three years, it sounds like the clinical symptoms of Graves, and if it's any comfort, GPs are very poor at recognizing both hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism.
Normally the body has a feedback loop that produces reverse T3 (rT3) in response to high T4 levels. The rT3 attaches to cellular receptors throughout the body, slowing down the metabolism. Apparently you're not producing enough rT3. There are pharmaceuticals for slowing down hyperthyroidism by binding to the T3 receptors on your cells. One that's used in the US is Propylthiouracil. It's significantly less potent than your body's rT3, and it has side effects that some can find very difficult to tolerate.
There are various antibodies that the body can produce that cause autoimmune thyroid disease. For most people, the antibodies produced are the ones that are commonly tested for. In some cases, the antibodies are more rare and they never give the test. The logic is that if you have the obvious clinical symptoms of thyroid over/under production, they are going to treat the condition irrespective of the underlying cause.
Please keep us informed as you continue on your journey.
Best wishes.
So, i managed 2 stress my doctor and i went in for a second blood test today to validate and see If my thyroid levels still are elevated, here are the results, any ideas on what can be wrong? If she finds my test abnormal she Will send me to a specialist:
