Multinodular goitre

Hi new here! Recently been diagnosed with a multinodular goitre, all thyroid levels seem to be fine although I am getting alot of symptoms, exhausted, heart palps, thinning hair, mood swings, depression.. well the scan report says suggest ENT referral.. my gp sent it as urgent as I suffer with health anxiety and the ENT rejected the referral and now my appointment isn't until April, my question is... would the ENT have seen my ultrasound images? Bit worried that I have to wait that long incase there is something wrong, the report says one nodule is quite large and complex cystic. Can they tell from a scab if it looks cancerous? I'm just sick of this worry

I had a scan a couple of weeks ago and was told no shadows on thyroid so nothing suspicious, by that assume they meant no indication of cancer visible when scanning. My referral is in 5 week for consultant. Dr made a 2nd requests for referral to be urgent as difficulty breathing and swallowing, not heard back yet but was told an urgent referral can be 6 week so not expecting anything soon

My appointment isn't until April! I don't get how they can leave me for so long, I'm going back to the doctor to see if I can get seen sooner

That is a long time, chat with gp ask for copies of results. Perhaps he will accelerate referral with poor health

Regarding your thyroid levels, "fine" simply means your results are within reference range; not that they are necessarily fine for you - or more accurately, optimal. If you post your results here, with their ranges, folks can comment. Re. your scan results, does the report give the U values of the nodules (written as U1, U2 etc, up to U5)?

I'm going back to the doctor today to ask for another blood test, I am definitley not fine, I have every symptom of an over active thyroid, no my scan results didn't say any of that

I had mine scanned a few months ago and told there was a nodule (where I was feeling there was something compressing airway) and several smaller ones that looked like prior attacks. Diagnosed thyroiditis and known antibodies so Hashimoto’s, other levels normal, no treatment.

I was advised regular paracetamol to help settle it, which it did a bit, and reducing / cutting out gluten has made a big difference.

If I’m scan they thought it looked cancerous I was told they would biopsy.

I had seen ENT first who checked nose & throat, which was clear (as I thought it would be) and had nothing further to offer post scan!

Good luck

I live in Leeds, three year ago I started with a cyst on my throat, my GP at the time sent me for a ultrasound, and refered me straight to endo, I got my appointment within 2 week, a further two week later I was in hospital having the goitre and thyroid removed. He told me the day after surgery that it was a lot bigger than what they had originally thought, it was squeezing my voice box. I don't understand how they can make you wait for treatment, I wasn't even tested for thyroid function first. Again, I think it is down to the postcode lottery what happens when you need treatment
