Hi Birkie, I think you need to make it clear to the Practice Manager that you are desperate and do not feel you can cope with your condition or wait any longer without serious consequences to your physical and mental health. You need to be seen quickly. If you can, call 111 for advice, or go to a local drop in centre or to A&E if your symptoms are frightening or too difficult to cope with. I think you should complain to PALS regarding your hospital appointment. Your posts on here make it clear that you cannot cope with this alone and you need to communicate this to your GP. By all means contact the practice manager and to emphasise your need for attention.
To be honest it is affecting my mental health I'm no longer able to be out any longer that 20 mins as the tremors and server fatique sweating ,,prevent me from doing normal things..I'm now forced to get my shopping online and get it delivered as I can no longer do it😡 As for seeing friends that's very hard,,iv cancelled Christmas I just want to get the holidays over so I can tackle the GP and endo...believe me our surgery is really bad we only have one main doctor then 2 locums,,I'm really contemplating leaving as I feel iv been treated badly 😡😡
she conveniently found one in 2 days..anyway he never called me to discuss my treatment that was Monday today is sat and no contact from my GP
Did you not ring the surgery on Monday and ask why you had not been contacted? That should have been the first thing you did when your phone appointment didn't materialise.
This happened to me once with a phone appointment with the Nurse Practioner who had booked the appointment himself whilst I was in the consulting room with him, as a follow up because I was so ill at the time. I didn't get my phone call. I waited an hour then rang the surgery asking if there was a delay, thinking there might have been an emergency he was caught up in. I was put straight through to the nurse practioner and he apologised, he knew he had booked an appointment for me, but he didn't know how to mark the system as a phone appointment and it had been booked as a surgery face to face appointment!
That's the first thing I did to ask why I ad not been contacted first of all I could not speek to the doctor..ok the receptionist said Ho have you not missed his call.no their is no missed call on my phone..then the receptionist said I will let him know but he is busy and the surgery is closed tomorrow for training..ok..I have been trying to get hold of anyone in the surgery to see me but no luck,,,I'm constantly told their is no appointments,,or it's emergency only today...iv said well I think I am an emergency..I'm told to ring bk tomorrow it's the same crap..eventho iv been diagnosed with a thiyroid condition..the receptionist even said do u think it's an emergency.i can't understand why I'm being treated like this I have done everything I can do and to be honest I'm exhausted and my tremors are bad..that's why I asked on here if I could see the practice manager to find out why I'm being missed so much..
It is dangerous for you to be left hyperthyroid and to effectively be refused a GP appt is frankly disgusting. If I were you I would do two things. Put in a formal complaint about your inability to obtain an appt and not being called for your phone appt when you have very serious symptoms. But more importantly I would either go to a walk in clinic if you have one or go to A&E. Explain all you have said above about not being able to access an appt and you are now very concerned for your health.
You need an urgent endocrinologist appt. A&E should be able to request that your GP action this.
If you can afford it I would pay to see an endo privately. Just because you can wait a couple of months for an urgent endo appt and you have already been waiting a long time. Thyroid UK can provide a list of endos. I am not sure if the email address as its changed since I used it but if you post the request it someone will provide the current one.
