Private T3 and NHS blood tests ??

Hi,

I haven't posted for a while but have been reading some posts which are helpful. Thank you to you good people.

It hasn't been decided yet if I will be allowed to continue treatment on T3 on the NHS. Am on T3 only.

If I am forced to buy T3 privately like a lot of us are unfortunatly, would I then have to pay for thyroid function tests privately too ?? !!!

I would very much appreciate any advice.

Thank you.

That's down to your doctor. If that was me and I was forced to buy my own after having my prescription taken away, and my doctor was on board with me sourcing my own, then I would expect him to agree to continue monitoring me and do the tests through the surgery, ensuring that FT3 is included as you take T3.

Oh dear !! My GP would not agree to blood tests because she just cannot understand why I can't take T4 but thank you for your reply. At least I know where I stand.

This situation is just so unbelievable and disheartening.

Did you get DIO2 gene test?

If not, the Blue Horizon DNA test, does more thyroid related DNA testing

Thank you SlowDragon,

No problem with D102 but the further DNA testing looks interesting. I will look into that.

I suffer from multiple allergies which are getting worse. Waiting to see an Immunologist. They may test me for fillers in the T4 tablets. I'm wondering if that could be what it is.

So you test negative for DIO2?

Do you have Hashimoto's? Also called autoimmune thyroid disease diagnosed by high thyroid antibodies

What about vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 levels ?

What supplements do you take?

Yes negative for D102.

I have Hashimoto Thyroditis. Antibodies are high.

My vit d is ok as taking suppliments. I recently had blood tests for B12 and folate. They were ok too. So sorry I don't have the levels to hand.

Ferritin to be tested.

Also taking calcium.

I am also going to try gluten free as soon as I can. I remember you have suggested that before.

Advice very much appreciate.

Thank you.

There's little point in being almost gluten free

It needs to be absolutely gluten free

Takes 4-6 months to recover after any consumption of gluten

Thank you. I did read that somewhere but didn't realise it takes 4 to 6 months!!

Yes so if sneaking in something with gluten once a fortnight, or even once a month, you're not getting anywhere

A gluten free life !!! Doesn't sound easy but not impossible either.
