On the coeliac website they suggest a blood test for: Total immunoglobulin A (IgA)
IgA Tissue transglutaminase antibody (shortened to tTG)
I can't find much reference to the test he's run, as it's been called on the results sheet I've had printed out, don't suppose anyone has any thoughts / can shed any light?
Thank you so much

What I was told is that the two tests coeliac UK mention test for antibodies, and resistance to antibodies. You can get a false negative on the antibody test, so the second test is to figure out if you've got a false negative (if that makes any sense).
I think they've run the antibody only test on you...
I’m honestly not sure which one is right. I’m one of the people who wishes they’d been tested before they stopped eating gluten - because of the need to eat decent amounts of gluteny foods for 6 weeks before tested (because if you don’t, you’re likely to get negative results when they should be positive...)
Having stopped eating gluten and being someone who gets very poorly if they eat it, it’s not something I could contemplate doing now. But I wish I had...
I’m hoping you haven’t yet given up gluten?
All that said, non coeliac gluten sensitivity doesn’t show up on any blood test. So you can still be affected by gluten even if your coeliac tears come back negative.
I know what you mean Jazzw, I'm being advised to cut out gluten (no not done that yet, tried a few days here are there, and i think things improve with my digestion - no idea if that is long enough to really know!), to reduce my thyroid anti-bodies by a nutritionalist and am keen to give this a go, due to sluggish digestive system, but somewhat concerned about causing future problems by cutting a food group out of my diet when I don't seem to have what i think of as 'classic allergic' reactions and am not THAT uncomfortable - but it does depend from day to day... It's all so confusing! Thanks for your reply!
