Hi, does anyone know if hypothyroidism can cause raised lymphs in your neck? My dentist noticed that one of mine is raised, for at least 6 weeks, with no reason - I've not had any colds of infections that I know of. Of course the GP couldn't feel anything (excuse my sarcasm, I've just had my fill of being told "no further action", "perfectly normal", etc.), and didn't think it was related to my other symptoms which I think all point to thyroid. The dentist confirmed it was still raised after the GP felt nothing and has made a referral to someone who deals with head and neck, although I have yet to hear from them. Just wondering if anyone else has this, or the GP is actually right about it being unrelated.
Raised lymph node in neck: Hi, does anyone know... - Thyroid UK
Raised lymph node in neck
It's good you've been referred and keep an open mind as you haven't got all the information you need yet.
I have a raised lymph node at my collar bone. It looks noticeably puffy but my gp can’t feel anything.
I immediately thought cancer but after having a thyroid ultrasound a few days ago, and the radiologist confirming Thyroiditis she said the swelling was most likely from inflammation from Thyroiditis.
She also took biopsies from the inflamed areas just to check they aren’t cancerous so obviously I’m not going to claim that lymph node swelling are nothing to worry about etc etc but yes, the radiologist said inflammation from Thyroiditis can cause raised lymph nodes.
I noticed mine raised about 2 months ago, (a few days after my flu jag). I initially blamed that but it’s still swollen now.
