Addenbrooks visit thyroid resistance

I finally got to Addenbrooks and saw a lovely female Dr with an interest in thyroid resistance. She did lots of tests and is arranging a brain scan re pituitary tumour, said she's hopeful it won't show one but thinks it should be ruled out. Did assay interference bloods too and will write to my Consultant.

Said there are a small proportion of pts that just don't tolerate thyroxine well and she doesn't have the answer to that but she will rule out any possible causes before giving me that conclusion

As you have Hashimoto's are you on strictly gluten free diet?

Gluten intolerance and being overtly hypothyroid are both possible causes of raised anxiety

This invisible illness is so frustrating at times.

I hope you get your answers in order for you to feel well.

I believe that it's not a small proportion of patients doing badly on Levo more like 80% and the ones that do best are younger and do more exercise.

This means that the majority are either doing badly or adding T3, or on NDT to feel well.

Lets hope that you can sort it out.
