This is from the supplier's website:

From the porcine Metavive (l and ll):

Outdoor reared pork meat, from RSPCA approved, high welfare farms in the United Kingdom

For the Bovine Metavive (lll and lV):

from Procepts Nutrition's proprietary farm sources in Europe

It's the only "NDT" available to buy in the UK. They don't disclose the actual hormone content so it is sold as a food supplement, otherwise it would be a prescription medication.

How many people use METAVIVE and find it comparable to other NDT’s I wonder ?

No idea I'm afraid, it doesn't get mentioned very often. You could put up a new thread asking for people's experiences.

Cant understand as it states 30 mg

Of hormone .

I am currently using mcg units ?

Surely that is a massive overdose of hormone ?

Cant understand as it states 30 mg

No, it says 30mg of thyroid gland. It is a glandular so it's using the whole gland. The actual hormone content (T4 and T3) is not 30mg, it's similar to popular brands of NDT from what I understand.

Look at 1 grain of NDT, that is 60mg, but it's not 60mg of hormone. NDT contains 38mcg T4 and 9mcg T3 in most brands.

Is there any way to compare the dosage between this & NDT, please, or is it hit & miss as there's no standardisation of hormone content?

SeasideSusie profile image
SeasideSusieRemembering• in reply toBadHare

They don't declare any hormone content so It's a case of try it and see how you get on I suppose. It's the one Dr P advises people to buy.

Thanks SeasideSusie !

I'll ask the forum if anyone can compare it to Nature Throid, which I currently take.
