I have Graves witb T1Dbeen in remission some 5 yrs and on thyroxine last 4 months T4 jumped to 28 with hyper symptoms been off for 6 weeks new results show ft4 18.6 with TSH 0.01. What would your diagnosis be ? Keep off thyroxine ? And at what ft4 level do u thing TSH might start rising. Feel great so actually don't want ft4 to drop further, weight now stable was dropping. Been at ft4 7 felt 80!!

That sounds more like Hashi's than Grave's. Did you have antibodies tested?

Nope but seeing endo next week so will see if I can get antibody test for both Graves and hash as as far as I am aware the intensity of each condition is proportional to the level of antibodies

No, not at all. Antibody action in each one is entirely different. But, if they are over-range, they you have the disease.

However, if you've never even had the Grave's antibodies tested, then you cannot be diagnosed with Grave's. Just having a low TSH doesn't cut it.

Ok thanks grey I think I have been tested right at the start for Graves antibodies but I will check with my endo who currently is very open and easy to discuss things with, will also try to get a hash test

That sounds like a good plan. :)

My results were same last time I tested. I’m both hashimotoes 20 odd yrs and graves just recently. Tested positive for both. I shouldn’t be having any symptoms though as they have suppressed my immune system to stop me being attacked. It’s obviously not working 🤔I will follow your profile if you don’t mind and see how you get on. Good luck

Cool Dee good luck too the swings can be destabilising and from what I have learned is just keep getting blood test monitored once a quarter a more if you start to get symptoms either way. But there is no way I will go hypo again now I know the symptoms or wrecked my life for a yr or so !
