Hi, I have started taking Floradix liquid and have been experiencing a lot of stomach ache.

Has anyone else taken this and had same issues. I don't know whether to persist or stop taking it.

Thanks.

To make absolutely sure it's the Floradix, stop taking it for a few days. If the stomach ache goes away that is likely the cause, but you can double check by starting again and seeing if it comes back. If it's defnitely the Floradix causing it then I wouldn't continue because you're obviously affected by something in it.

Why are you taking it, have you had iron tests, ferritin? What are the results?

Seaside Suzie, I've spoke to you a few times but under the name Happy for some reason I can not get back into that account on my new phone.

I had had results which you kindly advised me how to proceed when I had posted my results. All my tests were within range however showed low B12 and low thyroid levels (but in range) my Folate was below range though.

I am waiting for results of PA and full blood count should get them tomorrow. I also had an Ultra Sound on thyroid but there was nothing found on it.

So I am assuming I'm just not getting enough Folate and B12 in my diet or may be intolerant to wheat. Hence why I have started floradix.

Thanks.

There isn't a member name "Happy" but there are a lot with a number after it. Did yours have a number, and I can try and find your profile.

So I am assuming I'm just not getting enough Folate and B12 in my diet or may be intolerant to wheat. Hence why I have started floradix.

If you're taking this Floradix Liquid Iron and Vitamin Formula floradix.co.uk/product/flor...

then considering that 10ml contains

Iron 7.5mg

B12 (as cyanocobalamin): 0.6mcg

and no folate, this isn't for supplementing B12 and folate, it's an iron supplement.

BUT with a below range folate I would have said that is deficiency and you should see your GP and you would probably be prescribed folic acid.

If your B12 was low in range I would have asked if you had signs of B12 deficiency and given you a link to check and if you did have signs I would have suggested that you see your GP for further testing before starting folic acid.

And if you're waiting for results of testing for PA, then you should wait and see what's prescribed rather than self supplement with anything at the moment.

To be honest, I wouldn't even bother trying to find out if it is the Floradix causing the stomach ache.

Sorry my username was HappyH81. My profile picture was of New York.

I was prescribed folic acid, but someone on here I can not remember who said to make sure I was prescribed proper Folate and not just bog standard folic acid.

I was just tired of waiting to see GP that I wanted to kick start feeling better if it turns out that it's all diet related.

I called up for my latest results today and already receptionist stated they have all came back OK but they are still waiting for 1 more result to come back. However I know "everything is OK" doesn't give you full picture so I will be asking for a copy again.

I just want to feel even the teeniest bit better so I have been trying to take gluten and wheat out my diet. And then to supplement.

Thanks for your advice.

Here's a link to your old profile Furmummy

Hopefully it will work on your phone.

Looking at your thread with your Medichecks results

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

you had a lot of advice but I see

Folate: 1.53 (2.91-50.0)

This is absolutely dreadful and must be sorted by your GP.

I see your Active B12 was 53.5 and as you are awaiting results of your PA test, then once you start some sort of B12 supplementation, then you can add in folic acid (hopefully prescribed by your GP) afterwards.

Did you manage to get Vit D tested?

Yes that's one of the results I should get tomorrow Seaside Suzi. I will post the results on here. I have got a Dr appointment on Friday also. Thank you once again for all your help.

Hi Seaside Suzie, just got my results. Did not do thyroid testing as we were looking at PA. I am sure I saw Vitamin D on the computer when I was getting my bloods but not got them on a result however I knew they were waiting for 1 to come back. Maybe that's the one.

Anyway here are my latest results.

Vitamin B12 311 (180 - 900)

Serum Folate 3.6 (2.1-14.0)

Serum Ferritin 56 (10-65)

Intrinsic factor Antibody Negative

Mcv is 91.7 (83-101)

MCH - 30.4 (27-32)

MCHC - 332 (315-345)

Did you find any other supplements that did not cause bother with your stomach?

I can't tolerate any vit supplements, something in them does me no good at all.

I think I may be the same. Whenever I took vitamin c supplements I end up with stomach issues.

I haven't used this but this is an excerpt from the following link:-

People also ask

When should you take Floradix?

In most cases the best time to take Floradix is 30-60 minutes before food or a couple of hours after. Floradix is best taken on an empty stomach unless you are particularly sensitive to iron supplements, in which case, try taking with food.

I haven't taken liquid, though I find the tablets fine. They contain some B's including folic acid, & vitamin C.
