Hi Anthony

Comparing your results to those 5 months ago, also on 100mcg Levo

TSH then: 0.61.... now 2.75

Did you do the test at the same time of day? Was it early morning after an overnight fast with water only and delaying breakfast until after the blood draw? There's quite a difference in your TSH.

FT4 then: 16.700 pmol/L .... and now 16.1

You wouldn't really expect to see much difference on the same dose, presumably you left off Levo for the same amount of time before the test (24 hours)?

FT3 then: 4.45 .... now 4.37

Again as expected as no change to dose.

TG ANTIBODY then:114.000 .... now 111

TPO ANTIBODIES then: *350 IU/mL .... and now 405

Not much change. Are you gluten free and supplementing with selenium? It takes time to reduce them and they will fluctuate anyway.

ACTIVE B12 then: 112.000 .... now 152

You don't need this to go much higher. If you're not supplementing B12 then I expect the B Complex has caused this rise.

FOLATE then: 10.12 .... and now 10.08

That's very disappointing after 10 weeks of supplementing with B Complex. Which one are you using?

VIT D then: 57.9 nmol/L .... now 68.4

Slowly rising. How much D3 are you taking? Is it an oral spray? Are you taking magnesium, that helps the body use D3, it's required to convert Vit D into it's active form.

CRP then: 1.15 mg/l .... now 0.77

Nice

FERRITIN then: 140 ug/L ... and now 117

You could do with eating some liver, liver pate or black pudding, this should be nearer half way through range.

Did you leave your B Complex off for 3-5 days before the test?

How do you feel?

If symptomatic then there is plenty of room for a dose increase, 25mcg now, retest in 6 weeks, maybe another 25mcg then, retest in 6 weeks.

Thanks for the reply,I have not been on gluten free,I have been using d3&k2 spray (1000iu d3,100mcg k2) 1 spray per day,did not take levo until after blood draw,I am taking biotin but did not take it or vit b complex for 6 days before bloods.I have noticed that the ranges on this test are different on B12 and folate to the ranges on the first test,is this right ?

Range for b12 first time 25.10- 165.00,this test is 37.50- 188.00

Range for Folate first time 2.91- 50.00 this test is 3.89- 26.80 9 (is this normal?)

I take igennus super b complex, I do feel ok,my hair is still thinning slightly,I have put on a bit of weight which I like because I do normally struggle to put it on

Thanks

Ah, sorry, I hadn't noticed that, just saw Active B12 and I'm used to the old range. So let's work out the percentage then and see if you have improved.

B12

112.00 (25.10- 165.00) = 62%

152 (37.50- 188.00) = 76%

So there's an improvement there.

Folate

10.12 (2.91-50.0) = 15%

10.08 (3.89-26.8) = 27%

Another improvement

So ignore comments about these 2 results in my previous post. They're both going the right way. (I expect they've changed the machines or they have been recalibrated or something).

I think it's worth trying gluten free for a few months, many Hashi's members find it helps enormously.

If you feel the need, you have plenty of room to increase your dose of Levo and you might feel better for it.

See your GP and ask for 25mcg dose increase in Levothyroxine

Official NHS guidelines saying TSH should be between 0.2 and 2.0 when on Levothyroxine

(Many of us need TSH nearer 0.2 than 2.0 to feel well)

See box

Thyroxine replacement in primary hypothyroidism

pathology.leedsth.nhs.uk/pa...

According to Izabella Wentz the Thyroid Pharmacist approx 5% with Hashimoto's are coeliac, but over 80% find gluten free diet helps, sometimes significantly. Either due to direct gluten intolerance (no test available) or due to leaky gut and gluten causing molecular mimicry (see Amy Myers link)

Changing to a strictly gluten free diet may help reduce symptoms, help gut heal and slowly lower TPO antibodies

Ideally ask GP for coeliac blood test first

Or test privately
