Hi all. I’ve just been put on efra thyroid. I was on 150mg of levo that was making me feel awful. My endo has started me on a small dose and will raise it slowly upto 2 grains. How long did it take for any of you guys who are taking NDT to feel them working ?

Within 3 days. Made a huge difference to me.

How small is small? Half a grain? Or a grain? To be honest, if you’ve already been taking Levo you probably need to start on a grain.

He has started me on 1.5 per day taking them in half grain doses 3 times a day for a few days and then up to 2 grains.

Oh that’s fine. Feared he might have started you too low. :)

6 months, I was about to give up on Thiroyd because I didn't feel better in comparison to being on 125mg Levo, but I persevered and I feel a lot better now, still got a way to go but more promising than levo.

6 months, really? I have read that people seem to begin to feel better after as short as 3-4 days. Hope these work for me

it really depends on the person as each person deals with their illness very differently. With NDT you have to make sure you're not deficient in other nutrients and your adrenals are good otherwise you won't respond to NDT as well.

I was lacking vit d but I’m all good on that now. All other levels are good. Just had recent bloods done that checked for iron deficiency, vit b levels and so on. Had cortisol levels checked last year. They were good also.

I took about 3 weeks to see Thiroid was going to be better . Still seeing improvement 8 weeks on . So maybe it will continue 🙂

Good luck x
