This is probably a silly question but I am doing a Medichecks finger prick test in the morning for iron. I know to fast for 12 hours but am suddenly wondering whether I should take my usual dose of Levothyroxine at about 3 a.m., I.e. about 6 hours before drawing the blood for the test.
Any advice would really be appreciated.
Best wishes to all

I try to keep the circumstances the same for every single test I do, whatever it is for. So I stick to early in the morning, fasted except for water, and wait until after the blood draw to take thyroid meds.
If you take thyroid meds in the morning before the next blood draw for iron, just remember that in the future you might want to test iron-related things at the same time as you test your thyroid.
So, I would suggest delaying your thyroid meds until after the blood draw, even if the test is for iron and not thyroid.
Thank you so much for getting back to me so quickly!
Your advice makes absolute sense. I hadn’t thought about that. It’s very likely that in the future I might test ferritin, for example, at the same time as doing a thyroid blood test. So I will certainly delay taking levo until after the blood draw.
Thank you so much for your help and advice. I’m really grateful.
