Thyrogold has reduced my hypo from TSH 18 to TSH 0.05 IN 3 WEEKS now the docs say Im hyper but I dont have the symptoms.Anyone else had this

Im taking 1 x 150 mg of thyrogold and they recommended 150 mg of thyrogold. Docs were surprised how quickly my bloods changed in 3 weeks but now saying to cut down tablets.

Tammy from thyrogold says different to the docs. She says that low TSH and elevated T3 which I have a T3 of 8 and it doesnt mean its hyper but to go on how I feel.

It depends on the lab tests of the day. When it came back HYPO I had bloods taken at the end of the day and when it came back HYPER the bloods were taken first thing in morning after taking Thyrogold and fasting so this also could of effected the results. Has anyone else had similar?

Should you have bloods taken while fasting on with no medication?

It would be easier to understand if you gave us the actual numbers - results and ranges. Just saying 'hypo' and 'hyper' results is meaningless - especially as someone who is 'hypo' cannot ever become 'hyper'. It doesn't work like that.

You could be over-medicated, and certainly an FT3 of 8 would seem rather high. But, without the range we can't comment. Although, if you took your Thyrogold less that eight hours before the blood draw, then you will have a false high, because all you've tested is the dose you just took. You should leave 8 to 12 hours between your last dose and the blood draw.

But, Tammy is right, when taking anything with T3 in it, the TSH is a useless test and irrelevant unless it's high. :)

Hi

Thanks for your reply.

TSH was 18 only 3 weeks ago and they didnt tell me about my T3 AND 4 that time

After taking thyrogold for 3 weeks

Now TSH is 0.05

T3 -8

T4 - 21

I was tested about an hour after taking the thyrogold tablet they were shocked as was I how quickly my TSH dropped but now they are concerned im hyperthyroid even though I have no symptoms of hyper.

I feel confused about it all but at the same time it proves how powerful thyrogold is!

You still haven't given the ranges for the results, so it's impossible to comment on them.

But, no, this doesn't prove how powerful Thyrogold is, because you took your pills just before the blood draw when you should have left at least 8 hours. It is a false high.

And, as I said, you cannot go hyper because you are hypo - the thyroid cannot jump around like that. Did you really read my response at all?

in reply togreygoose

yes I did read your response and Ive answered it with what i thought you meant.

You are coming across as abrupt with me when Im only responding with what I thought you wanted to know.

Dont worry now Im totally confused by all this and im just trying to get well and the advice from thyrogold and the doctors both conflict each other but Tammy has told me the doctors know very little about the throid so i dont know who to go with here for advice but I do feel a lot better on thyrogold.

Don't worry Grey Goose is only trying to help you and she has some very good advice OK

Taking thyroid meds, especially any with T3, before a blood test is going to skew the test's results. I don't know about Thyro-Gold but it looks like a supplement similar to NDT that's OTC? How much t3 is in the stuff you took? (a quick Google search shows that they do not disclose this as it's a supplement?).

Like gregoose says, FT3 of 8 (assuming the range that's usually used: 2.3-4.2) is a huge level. What's the range used? I've seen some labs using a different range for FT3 that goes up to 8.3.

in reply toMike0

Thanks the range used for FT3 is between 3.5-7.8 (British thyroid foundation)

Yes its similar to NDT but a lot easier to get hold of in the UK than the NDT

Hidden The British Thyroid Foundation is not a laboratory, and any figures it gives will be general parameters only. Different labs may use difference reference ranges and your own results can only be judged in light of the ranges used by the lab that performed the assays.

Hi we require the actual ranges from your own blood test results which should be taken first thing, fasting, leaving off Thyroid gold for 10-12 hours prior to the test

in reply to

ok but the doctors didnt give the range in fact theyve given me little info really

All the doctor said was I was hypo at TSH 18 and now Im hyper 3 weeks later with TSH 0.05
