Sixteen years after my total thyroidectomy, after years of problems with medication and when I am acceptably healthy on Erfa thyroid and T3, my GP has decided that I need to have an NHS consultant's confirmation of my clinical need for my NHS prescription. This was first prescribed by the late Dr Skinner. Has this happened to anyone else? I am really fed up about this as I feel I have a life now and don’t want economic considerations or prejudice against NDT to affect my quality of life.
I should say that it is just one GP who told me I cost the NHS too much, so I elected to pay privately for T3 as the NHS is being overcharged for it. Another GP in the practice has tried to protect my prescription for Erfa but she is off sick for two months so her partner has taken this opportunity to challenge my prescription.
