Has anyone heard these programmes on Soundcloud. Interviews with Datis Kharrazien. A true expert on Hashimoto's. Please forgive me if this is old news but I just listened to all 3. This man has basically spent years and years critically evaluating the literature out there on this disease. I found his knowledge fascinating.

Yes, he is a scientist and a researcher, unfortunately he is one of these people who have 'cured' themselves by applying dietary and supplemental protocols and thinks this is the ticket and will work for everyone else as well.

The proper scientific evidence is very thin on the ground - I know that lots of people promote a strict gluten free diet when you have Hashimotos. There is no concrete scientific evidence to verify this - yes it works for some people, but then, can they really distinguish going gluten free from adopting a healthier diet in general, or from taking additional supplements. Unless there are controlled clinical studies evaluating this properly, I would certainly not embark on a restrictive diet - which would more likely leave me with more nutritional deficiencies than before!

Its great that he managed to turn his illness around - but extrapolating from one to all is not a controlled experiment - it is a case study (as is the case of Isabella Wentz, who heavily promotes an auto-immune protocol as well). And everyone is different, what works for one does certainly not work for everyone. If you look on his website, he sells books and supplements - so I would perhaps somewhat cynically say it is in his interest to interpret the science as he does it, so people will accept his hypothesis and buy his literature and supplements.

Yes, there may be some snippits in there, which are helpful and some of the science is sound - but interpreted in a way to suit his cause. I think with all this literature and conflicting evidence out there, people need to be really careful. We all want to get better and have a good quality of life. Hashimotos is an autoimmune disease, there is no cure - you can get better and you can feel really well with no symptoms at all, but the disease is still in the background, no matter what you do.

Sadly, there are no easy fixes and no miracle cures and we have to stay alert and sometimes also quite sceptical, otherwise we may be taken in by the lure of a 'cure' or fix, that is not really achievable.

All very fair comments. All I know is that this man has spent more time on the subject than many and so, like us all I will make my own judgement. Thank you for your most valuable comments
