Help please with blood results

Hello all you lovely community

I would be really grateful for some advice please.

I am taking Nature Thyroid 1 grain

I have just had my blood results back and feeling confused

Would anyone be able to advise whether I need to reduce meds

Results as follows

TSH 5.76 range 0.27-4.2

Free Thyroxine 12.900 range 12-22

Free T3 8.19 range 3.10-6.8

Hi. How long before your blood test did you take your last dose of medication?

Hi Maggie, I took my meds first thing around 7 then blood test around 9:30

That’s why your fT3 result is so high. It’s a false high, measuring the medication you’ve just taken which peaks around 2 hours after you take it. You need to leave 12 hours between your last dose of NDT and the blood test. You also need to fast, water only from midnight the night before.

Next time you do a blood test, on the day before, split your tablet in half and take half in the morning at your normal time and the other half at 9-9.30 in the evening. Then you can go back to your normal dose after you’ve done the blood test the following morning.

You are not over medicated, if anything, looking at your TSH you need to increase. That should be done by 1/4 tablet, fortnightly until you feel well and your tsh is around 1.
