Thyroiditis

I have recently been diagnosed with thyroiditis, awaiting ultrasound of neck & thyroid and repeat bloods to include thyroglobulin antibodies. I have been advised to take paracetamol & no other treatment as yet. I have stopped gluten & sugar but symptoms are getting worse with regards to the swelling i feel. My voice is hoarse on & off and I feel the need to hold that side of my neck when I’m struggling to talk. My job involves talking on & off all day.

Is there anything else I can do to settle this? I will be looking to start supplementing, after bloods next week; with B12, folate & vit D as on low side.

Thank you

You will need to get a copy of your blood test results with ranges and post before anyone can help. Was the paracetamol for your discomfort ? I hope so as I can’t see what else it could be for. Hopefully someone with lots of knowledge will answer once you add your results. Just ask at reception for a printout with ranges. You won’t have to pay since May this year and they cannot refuse as they belong to you. Good luck.

Hi there its horrid I know, Like lovely samy I too have been blessed with 2 auto immune hashis and graves and have awful symptoms as samy mentioned, but I'm on meds of carbimazole for being hyper. I too have had 2 scans which have confirmed chronic damage and nodules.

I have the pain today, swelling in thyroid and very sore to touch, I am sitting here now with a heat pad on my thyroid area, and then I alternate and put it at the back of neck, try it as I find it helps to soothe, I also find just stroking the neck VERY gently helps too, I also feel like my throat and neck are very tight at a uncomfortable pressure which makes me sort of breathy, its not pleasant but you have to fight this, do try the heat!!

As suggested post your bloods so others can comment and help.😂😁
