Hi, I would like to try levothyroxine for a bit but I can't buy it over the counter in UK and I don't have a prescription since my GP is not keen to prescribing some to deal with my slight hypothyroidism. Does anybody know a reliable site where I can purchase a small quantity ?

What do you call "slight hypothyroidism"? What tests have you had and what are the results (with reference ranges)? Ideally, for a full picture you need:
TSH
FT4
FT3
Thyroid antibodies
Some nutritional deficiencies have symptoms that are similar to hypothyroidism. If not already tested then it would be a good idea to test the following, post the results on the forum for members to comment:
Vit D
B12
Folate
Ferritin
Thanks for your help.
I had my blood test taken a while ago and the FT3 and FT4 were slightly below than the normal value - I can't remember the exact figure but my GP advised to not taken any medication. However I offer feel tired and I've put on loads of weight - I would like to really just give it a try

As your tests were "a while ago" you really should get a full thyroid panel plus vitamins and minerals as mentioned to see what your current levels are like.
Medichecks do Thyroid Check UltraVit which covers everything needed and it's on special offer at the moment with £20 off

If your results come back with your FT4 below range, and TSH low, normal or slightly elevated, that may be significant and we can give you information to take to your GP as further testing may be appropriate. But I certainly wouldn't go ahead with self medicating with Levo unless these tests are done.
Thank you, I will have some tests done then
