Elevated Liver enzymes

Hello I am looking for insights. I am 64 and have been on thyroid meds since age 18 for underactive thyroid. I had been on 100 mcg synthroid for 30 years but in January a new Dr lowered my dose to 75 and increased my Avorstatin to 40. High cholesterol runs in my family and I had it since childhood. I am thin and active, walking 4 miles per day with the dogs and then chase grandkids around. My liver tests were normal AST 21 Normal for that lab is 10-35. Alt was 24 and normal is 6-29 I also have osteoporosis and take a once per week med for that. In April I was retested and the lowered my Synthroid to 50. I was tested again this week and Dr upped my synthroid to 75 Monday - Friday and 50 on Sat Sunday but my AST was now 36 and Alt was 47 and they want me to come in on Monday. What could be the cause of the increase. I do drink a glass of red wine and night ( very rarely 2 but have done this for years and my liver tests were always in normal range, Could the lowering of the synthroid or the increase in statin be the cause? My cholesterol was still high? I don't have the printout , just got the liver numbers over the phone. My Dr only tests for TSH when it comes to Thyroid and I do supplement with T3

Drs don't generally worry about liver enzymes until they are up in the many many 100s and above, there are lots of meds that effect liver enzymes and yours are so near to being in range you shouldn't worry about it, your dr will probably want to restest at some point.

It could be the statins having an effect on your liver. You really shouldn't be taking them. I would suggest you have a look at this thread :

I wouldn't take statins, either.

Statins are quite risky. You can Google for info on the dangers.
