Can't divide the t3 pill into 4 equal parts.

I taking 15 mcg t3 (takeda) but it's impossible to divide the pill into equal parts. I'm feeling well on this dose but it's such a hassle not being able to divide the pill equally and therefor I wonder if it would make a big difference taking a whole pill 20mcg instead?

Thanks!

Hi Gunhilda

I've just started taking NDT & I use craft knife which works brilliantly, it enables me to cut mine tablet into equal quarters.

Was it your doctor who told you to take 15mcg T3? If so how did he explain that you should divide your tablet?

Does the Patient Information Leaflet tell you how to do this?

If you take 20mcg instead of 15mcg, do you have enough tablets?

It's said that T3 is 3-4 times "more potent" than T4 (Levo). So on that basis

15mcg T3 = equivalent of 45-60mcg Levo

20mcg T3 = equivalent of 60-80mcg Levo

So if you took 20mcg instead of 15mcg you'd have to see how it made you feel. No-one can tell you if taking 20mcg is right for you.

Yes, I have enough pills. I thought I was feeling a bit over medicated on 20 and therefore decided to lower to 15 but its impossible to get it right. Will try 20 for a couple of days to see how that goes.

Stanley blade held in both hands. Press firmly down and it will slice the T3 in 1/8th size no problem. They cost £1 for 10 at a DIY shop

Not sure where you live but here in the states you can get t3 (generic Cytomel) in 5MCG pills- so you could just take 3 a day. Are 5mcg available to you?

Evening Gunhilda,

Have you tried using tweezers to hold the tablet still and then either use a craft knife or scalpel blade?

Good luck
