pill cutting advice for T3

hi there - any tips on good pill cutters? My recent posts and queries have had me reduce my starter dose from 10mcg in the morning only to 5mcg (2.5 in the morning and 2.5mcg in the afternoon)

I’m doing my best cutting the pills but there is lots of wastage and I can’t help thinking that the drug may not be distributed evenly around the pill so I may not be getting the correct dose anyway? Is this true?

I’ve had to pay handsomely for them but I will be asking for a lower dose prescription but for now I’m having to make do. I’m feeling ok on the dose so far but can’t help wondering if I’m not getting the right dose.

many tips would be a great help

I bought a pack of 2 for under £5 on Amazon (it was a few years ago) but they are still working still sharp

I have the same one as you, bought after lots of research this was supposed to be a very good cutter. Yes, the blade is sharp butI find it extremely hit or miss on my Accord Levo.

I got this one on recommendation from tjis board. It's cut everything well except my vit D which is maybe a bit more powdery than the others.

Bought on amazon.

Hello, just started T3 at 2.5 mcg dose so a tenth of small tablet. I initially use a pill cutter to half the tablet. Then use a sharp knife to cut up the rest. It's impossible to cut exactly but I reckon it will even out overall and like SlowDragon use a finger for leftover powder/crumbs.

I use the Fortuna Pill cutter and crusher for cutting in half and as others have said a sharp knife beyond that.

Having said that I just saw this on Amazon which looks brilliant and I might even get one myself!

I use the equadose pill cutter, available on Amazon, which has two razor blade edges, a downward guillotene and an upward guillotene. It works much better than my previous single bladed ones. I have to cut a 20 mg tablet into 4. They are not always completely equal (depending how carefully I’ve lined them up) but crumbs are much reduced. I manoeuvre the pills/half pills using a chunky darning needle.

T3 can now be prescribed in capsules that are 5mcg each so Jo need to split now .

The cost of, say, four 5 microgram capsules is significantly more than that of one 20 microgram tablet (or capsules).

That alone pushes prescribers and individuals towards splitting.

A great shame.
