Face bloated on levo

Does anyone notice their face being bloated ? Since I started Levo I have a really chubby bloated face. I didn't have it before. I alwso notice that as the day goes on, and the Levo wears off, I feel better.

I missed a day by accident and my face swelling and stuffy head went away. For one day only ;-)

Doctor says I can take Levo or not it's up to me ! He said I have a high TSH but other ones are in range.

Im wondering if not taking Levo will be better than this

You might have a sensitivity on the levo you are taking (i.e. to the fillers/binders in it). Try taking one anti-histamine tablet 1 hour before your next dose and see if face still gets bloated. If it doesn't you need to ask pharmacist for another make of T4.

If we are hypothyroid it is not a 'take it or leave it' situation. We have to take replacement hormones. It could be due to you not being on an optimum dose yet and swelling may reduce.

Thanks for that very important tip. Generics are cheaper meds so must use alternatives to replace some incipients.

I am on Synthroid & have face swelling, mainly in my cheeks. I also have slight generalized itching in my upper body it seems. As I started (under Endocrinologist guidance) alternating Tirosint with Synthroid I can’t be sure now what is causing what at this time.

My plan is: I have been looking up the pills ingredients on rxlist.com, & (I’m in U.S.) I’ve also looked at “allergy/sensitivity to additives” lab draw options found (under Labs) on the Stop the Thyroid Madness website. I located a few of these type of labs searching miscellaneous categories. So far what I have found says they will send you a kit but you need to provide a phlebotomist. I haven’t figured out how workable this is yet. I am hoping to actually test & identify what might be irritating me, in the least expensive way possible.

To me this seems like a logical way to address this matter, but it doesn’t appear to be the standard of care.

Thank you for this reply !!

My doctor said it just my blood pressure correcting itself

(Mine was extremely low)

It's gone away today x

I had not considered blood pressure because it has not been a problem for me. I will monitor BP at home a bit to rule this out. Thanks. Hypo-tension resulting in fluid "3rd spacing" would not explain itching it seems, as my arms itch & no swelling is present there. Some preparations of Synthroid may contain iodine or lactose I've read. Iodine contrast has given me hypo-tension in the past. Synthroid has six or seven inactive ingredients in it. I hope to test not guess ...
