I don't know why when I try to increase the levo dose I get some disturbing symptoms. In the morning after I take my 125 levo I get anxiety(btw 10-11am), don't feel taste and smell, constipated, bloated, aching joints and drowsiness, which alleviates to afternoon. My heart rate goes up too. If I add t3 it doesn't help to much.
If I take 112 levo, I do not have these symptoms but I feel bad(hypo) in the afternoon and I can't sleep. How can I fix these. My endo says they are transient and wants to increase the dose further.

My heart rate also rises when I try to increase Levothyroxine. My Endo likewise assured this will pass and recommended 5 days at a lower dose and 2 at 12.5mg higher.
Suggestions on my post yesterday were that higher heart rate might be linked to insufficient ferritin. Have you had your key vitamins checked recently?
I doubt the rest of the symptoms will go away; lack of taste and smell, aching joints and drowsiness. The more levo I take, the more I swell. Very unpleasant, my endo suggested a small dose of ssri & beta-blocker..
I did. For some reason when I go to edit post on my computer or phone it doesn't let me proceed! I need to take more care and read what I type before clicking the button!
I have the same thing. I get massive fatigue upon bumping. I do split my t4 dose as well. 50 at night and 25 daytime with some t3 but just make it 50 and 50
I’m sorry to hear about your symptoms. I get all of those too but not all the time. I have Graves and had radioiodine so now am hypo but not due to Hashi. My symptoms come in phases and I think they are due to high Graves antibodies.
I found taking Levo at night better. I alternate between 125 mg and 150 mg. my symptoms only have only improved with a course of IV steroids followed by the introduction of an immunosuppressant. So I’m now taking 1.5 grams mofetil (it’s usually given to transplant patients). My endo has been fantastic but it’s taken a very long time to find her. I don’t know where you are in the country but if near london private message me and I’ll send name of my endo.
I hope that helps and that your symptoms resolve soon. 🙏
I had the same symptoms but it was after testing for vit that my GP put med on vit D supplements and Iron tablets that I felt better. The smell is due to Levo but it something one can live with as long as the heart pounding and achy joints is alleviated. I am alot better thanks to this forum
I find that each day I feel different, usually really tired & sluggish... most days I need a sleep in the afternoon, but that's difficult working full time.
Have you tried taking your meds before you go to bed? I used to take mine in the morning, but felt like I had brain fog... at night, your body's resting & the meds have a chance to get into your system & you feel better in the morning. Also take a multi-vitamin too, it helps to keep your body free from illnesses.
Try not to do much each day, see how you feel, if you feel up to doing something then go ahead. Remember an hour or two at the most.... try to go for a walk or take the dog out. The fresh air will help you too.
Be kind to yourself .... everyone on the meds have a different experience.
Changing dose from 112 to 125 is not high change to You but it is for your body. Try to increase every few days with 3 each time. It is like to drink 4 brandy and when being on dose to take just one more.
If You take additional T3 it is same thing, It looks that you convert T4 into T3 correctly but test when tests will be done.
When raising or going down with dose stop when symptoms go away.
Change of every thyroid influencing stuff should be by just a little to give time to body, to adopt. Otherwise it is sad you have allergy or intolerance to medicine or stuff. It is severe in case of Hasshimoto. Our bodies react to same medicine on different way. Even on food.
By Your description I suggest to go on low carbohydrate, low GI diet. Check iodine level too. Do not believe anybody, anything, even yourself. Check, test, prove.
Thank you all for reply, my endo told me to take it 25mch T3 along with 125levo but I found it is very dificult, my heart doesn't like it. On the other hand, I am no longer tired, no longer sleeping in the afternoon. Gave me some beta-Blck to take.
25 mcg of T3 is a very high starting dose. Low and slow is best. Start with 5 mcg. Increase after a week or two by adding another 5 mcg. You can probably work your way up to the full 25 mcg, but not all at once!
It could be possible that you would be a great candidate to split your T4 dose . AM and in the afternoon . I split my T4 dose for a few years now . It works very well for me . You might want to try it and see how that works for you .
Yep, today I splited(like ndt). 100levo+10T3 in the morning and 25levo+5T3 in the afternoon, seems to work. Maybe not the best ratio(I have to experiment), noon dose makes me a little anxious/jittery and it causes heartburn.
