After taking 50 levo for 2 weeks and feeling a bit better I felt really upset and emotional yesterday. Today I ate nothing until lunch and then had chopped fresh fruit with greek yoghurt and a cup of tea with milk. Straight after I felt my belly swell up and chin/neck. Now just had dinner and feel totally bloated. Also noticed the aches and pains when I got up were worse again. Any advice please.

Bloated
It might just be taking time to get used to taking levothyroxine. You might be better with a few small meals and not leaving big gaps between when your blood sugars will drop low. You could try a little organic apple cider vinegar with a glass of water before each meal. Or try a probiotic?
Thanks Nana. On holiday until next Wednesday so will be much better able to control my diet then. Feel like an overinflated tyre right now lol. Always was slim and now my body feels like it's betraying me.
Try leaving out the gluten ! I have lived in Crete since 2004 so know there are so many healthy options on the menu .....
Caesar salad for me tonight!
Don't forget to remove the toasted bread bits
Can't help sorry :/ new to all this myself but just want you to know you're not alone! I feel exactly the same every time I eat and I've been taking 50mcg for 6 weeks
Aw...Thanks for replying anyway. It's always comforting to know you're not alone. Don't you just feel like your body has betrayed you..but then that's because I've never had a physical condition before and everyone probably feels that especially at the start. X
Yeah definitely feels something like that but then I was already betrayed anyway with muscular back and neck pain haha. I was kind of expecting to get thyroid problems at some point though as it's hereditary x
Was your muscular pain not thyroid related then? I was feeling like I was about 90. Getting out of bed in the morning or out of a chair I was so sore and stiff until I got moving. And when I was standing cooking my back ached so much I had to keep having little breaks to sit. So many varying and random symptoms which I ignored for far too long. X
Umm I had no idea that muscular pain could be thyroid related 🙊🙈 I still have a lot of research to do but every time I sit down to read and study up I end up falling asleep 😂 x
Well there you are....its that wretched thyroid again. I had days where I just felt exhausted and others I felt fine. Sometimes I felt light headed. Also pounding heart which really worried me.
Yeah. I've had all the same 😕 really need to do some more research today as I've ended up being off work
Sorry to hear you've had to be off work. Probably you'll have an increase in dosage when you see Dr again. That's what I'm expecting in a few weeks. Hugs menwhile.chin up.
No so sorry now....I got fired for being off with an upset stomach!! 😱😱
Yeah, hopefully we'll both get our dosages sorted out pretty quick x
That's harsh...fired for being ill? Have you had to take a lot of time off feeling unwell?
Nope, my first sick day since working for them. Not a great company to be in anyway to be honest
What will you do? Hope you can find another job soon. Hugs.
Aw thanks, it's not too bad. I run 2 businesses so will be fine. Was only part time for some extra cash to pay some things off. Husband is main bread winner, we'll manage
Glad to hear that. I'm just coming to end of 5 year divorce. I reckon the stress of that is what sent my system into meltdown.
Welcome 😁😁😁
Avoid gluten, lactulose.
Envious that you are in Greece! When you return have a look at the Thyroid Uk site who run this forum. Lots of info and also a list of what your thyroid can cause when it's not at its best. It's a long list so don't panic but as every cell in our body needs thyroxine it's not surprising how varied the problems are depending which bit is not getting enough. Also look at the things to go and what not to do as they can make a great difference and many doctors aren't aware of them.
Thanks Silver. Will have a look when I return home. Yes lucky me having to lie on a sunbed in Greece and eat lovely food...no wonder I'm feeling bloated lol. Soon be home peering out at those grey clouds again......yuk..
Soon after taking Levothyroxine I too developed swelling in my neck are which was painful, then I had bloating and gastro issues. I then developed all sorts of food sensitivities. I kept telling my dr that it was the Levothyroxine but he said you can't be allergic to a synthetic hormone. I believed him and got sicker. I went to a DO and she put me on nature throid meds which I can tolerate but only in the smallest dose. It's been 2 years now and I still have all of my food sensitivities. My life has changed drastically all because of Levothyroxine. Only you know your body so listen to you and find another dr that will try another medication. Good luck
