Hi, has anyone used basal temperature to help get a diagnosis of hashimotos? Ive got tgab antibodies of 550 etc but still cant get my docs to listen! Because my tsh is only 3.2!
Hashimotos and basal temperature?: Hi, has anyone... - Thyroid UK
Hashimotos and basal temperature?
I mentioned my temperature of 35 to the Endocrinologist and it seemed significant to him.
I'd previously asked my GP for an Ultrasound scan of my Thyroid. It was upon receiving this result that he refered me to the Endo.
Write a list of your symptoms to take to GP with you and ask for a referal to an Endocrinologist.
Have you checked out the list or symptoms of Underactive Thyroid on Thyroid UK website?
I have one of those doctors that wont believe i have a thyroid problem even though many times i have done lists and given them extra tests too but nothing will convince them! So i got dr peatfields book and did the basal test at 6am this morning and it was 36.6, so nothing really low but im going to see if it changes over the next few days etc, but i very very much doubt i will get any further with tests on thyroid its so infuriating!
Have you asked a GP to send you for an Ultrasound scan of your Thyroid? Is there any other GP you could see?
Ask GP what the raised Antibodies Indictate ??
Have you had TPO tested (Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies ) ? Ask for that?
Have you ever asked for levels of Vitamin D, Calcium, B12, Folate and Ferritin blood tests? Ask for them ??
I showed them my medichecks results of thyroid antibodies tgab was 550! and all she said was they dont mean a thing and she recons that docs want to get rid of the test (what a load of crap) i have low zinc, just under low vitamin d and also have slightly raised cholesterol over the top range, tpo antibodies were only 12 i think (range was upto 34) folate was low/mid and ferritin was 80, but calcium has never been tested etc. I have had all tests for rhumatoid and lupus too as my mum had those, but nothing came up with that, so all they keep saying is i have ME, so basically 'unexplained symptoms'. Anytime i mention thyroid all they saynis that tsh is in range and fob me off. I do think my adrenals are involved in all this and hashimotos looks like that comes under that too, but of course docs dont beleive adrenal fatigue exits either, and they laugh if i ask about homocysteine etc
This is from TUK and if you're in the UK doctors have endos seem to have been told that we shouldn't be diagnosed until TSH is 10. In other countries we'd be diagnosed if it was above 3+ with symptoms. Also doctors don't test FT4 and FT3 as standard.

email Dionne at TUK and request a copy of Dr Toft's Pulse Online article. Within it he states that if antibodies are present we 'should nip things in the bud' highlght and show to GP (Dr Toft is physician to the Queen when she's in Scotland and I'll also link in Dr Toft's latest blast to the endocrinology. It's helpful to take temp & pulse rate 3x day.
