Just quickly, how soon does Vit D kick in?

I don't know whether I'm feeling better ONLY because I know I'm getting my Vitamin D - I'm taking 10,000iu daily (most days) and loads of susnshine lately.

It feels like my energy improves within a day or so, and drops within a day if I don't get outside and miss a capsule. So I feel as if I can tell when I need more.

Am I kidding myself or do you feel the effects, and feel them fade out, that quickly?

(Sorry if I've asked this before. I haven't got much stored in memory at the moment!)

Hi muddlemand, no you are not kidding yourself :) :) When I first took 5,000iu vitamin D3 many of my different types of pain and stiffness were gone by next morning, but pains come back by afternoon if I forget to take my vitamin D3 (+K2)

In winter both hubby and I need to up our D3, our bodys seem to tell us we need it, same as your body does. (there's no sunshine in winter to get our natural vitamin D3.)

Three people I gave vitamin D3 samples to, reported their knee and back pains started to lessen within a few hours and pains gone overnight, they were quite amazed by it as they had tried all sorts of remedy's to turn around their pains. Also D3 turned around my husbands life long asthma and keeps his coughs, colds, chest infections and flus at bay, very helpful if you are an asthmatic who has sudden nasty attacks, he no longer need to take both his inhalers daily, though we still by habit carry the rescue one just in case.

Thanks both - and wow, Coastwalker, that's an impressive lot of benefits you have personally seen!

I'm glad I'm not just imagining it because, first of all, this means I can halve my amount for a few days and be sure that I really need as much as I'm taking. .. in the interests of economy!

Perhaps also I can persuade my next-door neighbours to take some if I put some in a pot for them. I'm worried about them this year. No way will they accept my research over what the GP says :( - they are uneducated and old, and not very bright either, but as neighbours they have been pure gold all the years I've lived here. There used to be four siblings in that house and the family pattern seems to be that when you feel old and tired, you stop going out. Now there are only two of them, and this year I haven't seen them sitting out in the garden once. She mows the lawn once a week, he fiddles with the flower beds a bit, and they weed the raised beds together occasionally, but they're avoiding the heat - she has hayfever too and that also keeps her indoors. So I have been worrying because I can't see them getting healthier through the winter and into next year...

but Vitamin D is "just" a vitamin so it doesn't sound threatening if you know what I mean. If I can get them to try it for a week, and if they notice a difference immediately, I hope they'll start taking it for themselves. <3

And me of course! Good to know that by cutting down, I'm not risking a bad month later on, I'll know pretty much straight away. I don't want to risk lower productiveness*, too much on my plate this year.

* *EVEN* lower, lol.

I read a few years ago a piece from a NHS medical online journal that Drs were advised to give all OAP’s who didn’t go out often 1000 iu of vitamin D3 daily. Can’t go wrong taking vitamin D3. My friends Mum in her 80’s started taking D3 and suddenly had bags of energy and that same week took to painting her hallway. 😀

You can go wrong, but it takes a heck of a lot of it! :)

I forgot about giving some to my neighbours to try. In fact I haven't bumped into them for ages. Good to be reminded.
