How are your levels of B12 & VitD ?

I have no idea, can that be a cause?

It was suggested to have B12 - Folate - Ferritin & VitD tested in your thread of six months ago - so wondered what your results were. In your other posts/replies mmbers have mentioned Sjorgens - have you had the tests ? As that too can affect the eyes.

Yes good levels of B12 & VitD are needed for eye health and so many functions in the body ...

Could it be side-effects of your blood pressure tablet as you mention you have low blood pressure. Maybe the drug has lowered it too much ...

I get awful dry eyes, I have hashimotos and I feel they get better and worse depending on antibody activity..

Moisture eye drops help a lot

Did you have an assessment of the back of the eye by one of the newer camera scanners? They can pick up issues not readily apparent to other techniques.

If not, it might be a worthwhile step to have one - not all opticians do them and they will charge extra.

I’d go back and see your optician, that’s the only way you will really f8nd out for sure.

Very good advice from Helvella and Richard too. My eyes are extremely dry and I instantly see better when I pop in some eye drops. Also, is your vision blurred with your glasses on or only when you take them off?

When I am wearing my glasses 😁

In that case you should go and speak to your optician and find out what is causing the blurred vision. I wouldn’t bother asking your GP because their knowledge is very general and like the thyroid it is difficult to figure out how much training they are given on eye conditions.

When I had my eyes tested about 6 months ago the optician wasn’t interested when I told him and when I went to the doctors about it on Friday (mainly because my blood pressure was low and I mentioned my eyes to the nurse) the doctor said to go back to the opticians and if I don’t get anywhere to go back to him and he will refer me to the hospital......watch this space........

That sounds good. Ask around and see if you can find a more helpful optician. They vary and the good ones are usually well known. Could see it if your vision was blurred without your glasses on but it shouldn’t feel blurred when you are wearing your glasses and your eyes aren’t dry. Good luck with it all.

Yes. Is the short answer. When my levels are off my eyes suffer. (One is so much worse than the other). I have regular eye checks as I have a degenerative disease in the family, & they have found nothing wrong. my sight has deteriorated in the last few yrs because of hashimotos & medication problems(levothyroxine)

I also get things in my peripheral vision( which are not there).

Eye drops help but also getting your medication to optimal levels as well as B12 & vit D.

Yes. I’ve experienced this. It comes and goes though. I have graves and did have high blood pressure diastolic. Lost 3 stone and the eye symptoms are better but still get it every now and then mainly in 1 eye but am going for an eye orbit mri to check for Thyroid eye disease. Alex
