We don't recommend supplements to begin with, we recommend testing to see which supplements you need. Vit D, vit B12, folate and ferritin are the basics. Supplement according to the results. Then you can build up slowly with the co-factors.

There is no specific supplement that helps all hypos. Things only help if you need them. :)

You posted your vitamin and mineral results in your previous post and I suggested what you needed to supplement for the levels you gave

Other than those Vit C is a good supplement to take as it supports the adrenals. 2000mg a day in divided doses.

I’ve started on the ones from my previous post. I was wondering whether there were any others. Some people have recommended selenium and zinc, but I wasn’t sure

Selenium was also suggested in reply to your previous post as your TG antibodies are quite high in their range and you may possibly have Hashi's. You could test zinc, it should be half way through range.

Stagger the introduction of supplements, 2 weeks apart, so that if there is any adverse reaction you will know what caused it.

2000 mgs is safe to take on a regular basis? I currently take 1000mgs. Thanks!

Absolutely. That is the amount Dr P recommends, but you can take more, up to bowel tolerance if you like. Vit C is water soluble so isn't stored, it needs continually replenishing.

I don't weigh or measure mine accurately and I imagine I take 1500mg approx x 2 daily

Great, thank you!

Hashimoto's Thyroiditis diagnosed 1989, 3 months after my mom. She passed in 2012, age 82. Any way, some time in early 1990s I read Calcium, Magnesium, Zinc and Vitamin D are important for those with low thyroid. I've taken 2 of 3 tablets recommended daily ever since. Some brands have D, some don't. Former, excellent Rheumatologist, now 150 miles away, used to test my D and at least once a year prescribed green D round gels. Not sure how many mg they were. Have long taken a daily, high potency, Centrum-type Vitamin/Mineral supplement. Last few years, B complex too. If they don't cancel again, supposed to see new Rheumatologist in August. Haven't seen one since Dec. 2015. Have many other Autoimmune dx. Things to not eat or drink in excess are grapefruit and juice, cabbage, cauliflower and possibly broccoli. Positive outcome of my efforts so far, bone density is excellent!!! May we all Be or at least feel well!
