I am sure that a lot of you, like me, take a number of herbal, vitamin, and mineral supplements, but do any of you know how they should be taken? With/without food, what supplements don't mix, etc... If anyone has a list, or resource which breaks this down, please let me know. I want to make sure that I am getting the most out of my supplements and money.
Thanks,

Hi DanteNXS , take all supplements 2 hours away from thyroid medication, Iron ( which should be taken with Vitamin C at the same time for absorption ) 4 hours and Calcium 6. B vitamins are water soluble and best taken together in the morning, Vitamin D and any fish oils are fat soluble and should be taken with the fattiest meal of the day. Most people take Magnesium late at night as it helps them to sleep. Vitamin D3 should be taken with Vitamin K2 to avoid hypercalcification, no minerals should be taken together as they challenge each other, Iron, zinc, Sellenium etc Hope that helps a bit for now
I take my zinc and selenium together with my Vitamin D3 and K2 in the evening with dinner, should I take my zinc or selenium at a separate time then? I take my NDT at bedtime.
I take lots of herbs, vitamins and minerals and think of them as topping up the nutrients that should be in food. I have read that vegetables only contains a fraction of the nutrients they did 50 or 60 years ago.
So I take mostly with food with exceptions as said by Pastille.
I also add super- foods, like chlorella and liver powder to soups, hot-pots and gravy.
Even with all the extras, I still test below range in several minerals and vitamins.
It certainly is - and an expensive struggle at that!

There is a good book about all this called The micro nutrient miracle that I have found very helpful. I also buy a supplement from the authors that gives all the nutrients and minerals you need each day called nutrience.
