Armour to Nature Thyroid plus Low Dose Naltroxine anyone taken the LDN worried about side effects

Hi,

Having seen a new Endo he has suggested I switch from Armour to Nature Thyroid

I haven't yet as I'm experiencing mental and physical health problems, and when asked about side effects he said possible palpations.

He said after a number of years the body gets used to and is not so effective.

Does anyone have experience of straight switching to the above

Also the LDN

Sorry have brain fog so abit fluffy on spelling

When you posted 4m ago it seemed you were undermedicated. Has your dose of NDT/T3 been increased now?

No I was told to stop T3 completely as I was shaky and losing lots of weight so just taking 2.25 grains s of Armour

When you say T3 are you speaking of levothyroxine?

When you say grains do you mean micrograms?

When you speak of Armour is this another name for Thyroxine?

T3 is liothyronine - not levothyroxine.

Grains are a traditional unit of measurement for medicines. One grain is usually interpreted as 60 or 65 milligrams.

Armour is a desiccated thyroid product made from pig thyroid, dried, ground, made into tablets. Armour is dosed in grains or milligrams.

Armour contains both T4 and T3. That is, similar to a mixture of levothyroxine and liothyronine.

I took LDN for 5 months. No side effects. The only side effect I found mentioned in medical literature was vivid dreams. In that case, take during the day other than the recommended take before bed. I've also switched between various NDT brands & haven't had any problems when changing.

Thank you for that. Can I ask why you stopped?

My doctor who prescribed LDN is a functional medicine doctor. I'm a T1 diabetic & was having severe hypoglycemic episodes. T1 diabetics can't self-regulate low blood sugar like normal people. The doctor thought LDN might be responsible for the hypoglycemia, though this hadn't happened with other diabetic patients.

My husband has gone between naturethroid and armour depending on the availability of each. He does much better on naturethroid...feels better and numbers are better. He also takes LDN at 3.5 mg nightly. He has high antibodies and after taking LDN compounded for 8 months his antibodies have stopped increasing. They haven't gone down yet, but the fact they have stopped increasing is a good sign. He hasn't had any side effects. I would question taking it during the day. My understanding after reading up on it, is the best results have something to do with its activity during sleep. It is only available here ( US ) in a compounded form and luckily we have a compounding pharmacy a couple miles from our home.

Thank you, that's really helpful, I'm told it helps with mood and autoimmune folk.
