I’m so frustrated and my emotions are up and down. Urgh. Nothing to do with my thyroid or B12.
At college in London on Sunday, left to go for lunch and was walking fairly briskly down Percy Circus when my ankle turned with a crack on uneven pavement and down I went....
I couldn’t get back up again immediately, just lay there, giving my friend a fright as she’d seen me hit my head.
Other class mates (went back into college) fed me a mixture of a powerful herb/Rescue Remedy/homeopathic arnica. Don’t know what helped but my mind certainly became clear and I no longer wanted to curl up and sleep!
Long and short of it was I ended up in an ambulance and at UCH. I have an avulsion fracture (new to me) which is where ligaments tear away, taking bone with them. I have a boot on and crutches for at least four weeks. Husband had to come and get me from Northampton.
Grumpy this morning as I should have been going to Cumbria for two days today with husband and son for uni visit. Husband told me pointless to go. Humph.
Got a knee scooter arriving tomorrow rented for a week to trial (never heard of them before). Am due in Devon for a week in a couple of weeks- considering hiring an automatic car as don’t need left foot to drive then - they are so dear to hire!
Thanks for reading. I’m using lots of comfrey and other herbs. Mineral salts.
Tips anyone?
Grumpy Jo....

I did exactly the same last summer but without the ambulance - long story, but after lots of X-rays, dr and A&E visits because of dr’s not agreeing on whether it was healing properly I finally got put into a boot about 3 weeks after I did it.
The boots are great but make sure you fit them properly. You will need to wean yourself off the boot when instructed, and be sure to do exercises to strengthen your ankle once you’ve got to that stage.
I was told that it would be likely to be sore and swell for at least 12 months after the injury, I’m almost at that now - no noticeable swelling for about 6 months and just down to the odd slight ache. I am looking forward to having a boot free summer! Good luck, I hope you heal well.
I walked on mine for 3 weeks with quite heavy strapping before they gave me the boot as they were concerned that it wouldn’t heal properly because the joint was moving too much. That would be the risk if you go without the boot too soon... that and that you go over on it aga8n and end up doing more damage. At least you’ll have an excuse to get people to go to the bar for you 😬
