Hi all, I've had a goiter about 6 months now it has no nodules just enlarged thyroid, however it feels like it's getting bigger this past couple of days, I'm currently undiagnosed at this stage though Hashimotos has been ruled out, my question is can goiters suddenly just start growing again ? Do they ever just go away ?

Your previous post shows low FT4 and FT3

Have you had vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 tested. Can you add results and ranges

These are very often too low. Important to test, if low will need to supplement

Not everyone with Hashimoto's has raised antibodies

Have you had ultrasound of thyroid? If not ask GP for one

I was told back in December that I have a small goitre and I must admit I can now feel that my neck is tight sometimes. Go back to endo in a few weeks so will see what they say!!

Ive had a goitre for several years and it can change throughout the day. Early morning it's barely noticeable, then gets larger through the day. Sometimes it subsides by late in the day, sometimes feels, and looks huge, with that horrible throat tightening feeling. Cannot see any reason to how it chooses to behave!

It was scanned and shown as non cancerous so Endo and GP lost interest.

My gp lost interest after my ultrasound also as just showed whole thyroid to be big and bulky so not cancerous, I've had to fight to get endo appointment which I finally have on Wednesday, I'm hoping they check my vitamin levels also. My goiter seemed to stay same for 6 months but now I definitely feel like it's got bigger.

I'm afraid the 2 Endos I saw together at least cal hospital ordered the scan. It was done immediately, half an hour later I went back into them and they said goid Jews, it's not cancerous, lots of people have goitres, goodbye. Just no one is interested in the symptoms and it's the symptoms that have diminished my life from being on the go all day, walking 3-4 miles with my dogs, I now crash every day and some days the dogs get half a mile.

Please take a list of your symptoms and write down how your life has been affected.

Fingers crossed you get the Endo that's interested in doing something!
